I was lucky that if I could get a comb through it without screaming and tears. When he was three, three and a half, he was diagnosed with Sensory Perception Disorder ( Read more... )

Same here, hon! He really has. And I just keep thinking of how far he's going to go.

You are so patient, I would imagine because you have to be, but the love you share shines through with radiance. :)

Thank you! I wish I could say I'm always patient, but there are a lot of times when I yell and scream because I'm at the end of my rope. But I do love him so very much and I always try to get back around to the patience at some point! :-)

SPD is so difficult to deal with. I'm glad Peter is doing better and I hope he continues to do so.

Thanks! Even now, it surprises me how difficult it can be to deal with. (Though the hardest part is getting others to understand that even if they know an SPD kid, it doesn't mean what works for their SPD kid will work for mine!) I have a lot of faith that he'll continue to grow and come into his own.

::Hugggs:: Those struggles will gift you with more patience, amongst other things. This brings many memories of my son, who is now 25. I, too, wouldn't change him. I wouldn't change what he taught me about what is truly important in this life either. Anytiime you need an ear... peace~~~D

Thanks so much! I have gotten more patient, sometimes, though I also have times when I lose my mind. But I'm learning how to get him to talk to me more, to start putting things into words. We've learned so much from each other. And I hope we continue to.
