I'm sticking with my Nokia 6310 phone. For mobile web browsing, I'm waiting until I find something similar to the Asus Eee that has integrated 3g and a nicer keyboard. I'm pretty hopeful it'll turn up in the next year or so.

I'm able to lay my hands on a spare £100 to £200 if i need to. But not very often. Is that doing well?

Techincally, i still have negative money most of the time, i'm living off overdraft and a credit card. But... yeah; there's not much i *want* to do and can't afford to do.

We really should try and catch up, maybe before christmas?

Why would the iPhone need a USB port? I'm confused...

I absolutely ADORE my iPhone, but then I've been an Applephile since I was 4 years old. Also, being so near the home of Apple being in San Frnacisco...

Its about using the phone's storage as a portable hard-drive. I suppose the iphone's connector cable *is* USB, but i was under the impression it was a pretty non-standard connection. More to the point, the apple store told me that only the itunes program would be able to talk directly to the phone, you couldn't upload files onto it from any computer that didn't have itunes. That won't work out very well if i want to transfer photos onto my parent's desktop

That's totally fair enough. It sounds like you've thought it through! I don't think you're getting as sexy or as fun a phone, but I respect anyone who actually has sound reasons for their decision!
