Love your final analysis & thorough details of what you did & whyuu_momOctober 19 2012, 04:14:09 UTC
High fiber, high protein & low calories is terrific!
In the Zone, that would not be enough carbs for me (if all the carbs are in the sugar) or enough fat (there are good fats that your body needs that you get from things like olive oil - just a little). Of course, a strawberry shake doesn't need to be a meal; one can get other nutrients from other food.
Maybe you could try strawberry all-fruit or something similar - a concentrated strawberry to go with the frozen strawberries to get that strawberry flavor?
I can't wait to hear if that fiber works well in your body - I never tried it. And how you make it taste better. Looks Great!

You are getting carbs from both the sugar and the fiber, as well as dextrose from the powders. The total carbohydrates in the psyllium powder is 8g, 6.7g of that being fiber. However, since fiber is only partially digested, you can only count about half of that. So that would give it about 5g of carbohydrates total from the psyllium. I wasn't tracking carbohydrates in this article because I wasn't too concerned about them. But the total carbs should be 15g carbohydrates total (over half of that is dietary fiber). I'll edit the facts above

Yes, but even with the ice cubes it still wasn't cold enough. What I need is to put it all through an ice cream maker or something. If I put it in the freezer by itself it turns into a giant solid block. An ice cream maker would keep it soft while I freeze it. It would make it take much longer to make, but it would be more delicious. So a good tradeoff?
And believe me, the strawberries were frozen solid. I had to break them apart with a knife to fit in the blender.
