i finally got all the right information in and finished applying for my grant. im not sure how long it takes to process and to find out if im getting anything or how much, but i hope its sooner than later. i put 4 schools on my application as far as schools of interest - i hope thats ok. i also didnt fill out anything to do with my parents. i hope

I don't remember if its 24 or 25 but once you pass a certain age you don't have to use your parent's information in your FAFSA anymore. I never got any financial aid until I was old enough not to have to enter my parent's information (not that they ever gave me a penny for school anyway).

You will get an email saying when your FAFSA shit has been evaluated but you will not know whether or not you get a Pell Grant until you enroll in a school. Your award amount depends on what school you go to. So you should probably go ahead and apply somewhere because that takes a few months before you are accepted. UofH does not require you to write an essay to apply which is good. Putting schools of interest on your application just ensures that all of those schools will receive your information so that's good if you haven't decided which one you want to go to yet.
