Why is it that when I'm in pain it's always easiest to take it out on myself?
I would assume it's the same reason most people, including me, take things out on themselves. You are your own person, and the only person's actions you have control over are your own. As much as it would make things easier, we will never have the ability to dictate how someone will react or interact in certain situations. So in turn, ways to solve our problems center around ourselves.
I do it constantly. "What could I have said instead?" "What can I change about myself to make things better?" Bottom line is, though, personal relationships are two way streets. Don't be taking it out entirely on yourself, because you're not the only one involved, and in turn not the only one to blame.
Best thing to do - talk it out. I'll be over after work with a big hug and open ears. Love you.
