They don't give you awards just because. Clearly, you have a natural aptitude for your chosen field and you've worked to keep yourself to your own standards when others with the same aptitude might choose to do less because they know they can get by. Be proud of yourself and what you've accomplished.
As for wedding stuff, I'm no expert, but generally a shower is thrown for you (generally by the maid of honour). Engagement parties do seem to be more common, but they're not mandatory. And in my personal opinion, nothing is mandatory; it's your wedding and you can do or not do what you like.
Congrats on the award. I also believe this it's a matter of standards and aptitude. Your standards push you to reach higher than others, and you have the skill and intelligence to do so.
As for the meaning of awards, it's not only recognition of your abilities, but it also reflects on your ability to be recognized.
There's no just in the amount of stuff you describe. Also, I don't know how it works in WPI, but over here A is not just "Understands the expected material", that's a B student, an A student is "understands it well enough to extrapolate well" which is in a different class.
As to the awards, you deserve every one of them, and don't let yourself believe otherwise. It might be worth it to look up how they will influence your chances of finding a job in the field, if you have people who know and you can ask advice from.
