I understand your school's/your p.o.v. but not every girl rummages through her purse to put on makeup during class. Not every girl uses her bag to text. Not every girl eats and drinks. Etc etc etc. It does happen, but that's only natural that it happens. It's hard to stop. So what if there is a sudden outbreak of kids using their pens to stab others? Does this mean we'll take away their writing instruments? To stop this from occurring, you the teacher would have to set some rules and some punishments. Hell, you can even embarrass them if you want. Girls just naturally tend to have more on them than boys do. We'll carry tissues, nail clippers, a mirror, chapstick/lipgloss, etc. If you see a girl putting on her makeup, ask her kindly to stop and tell her that she's pretty enough without the stuff caked on her face. If anything, just regulate the size of the purse, but if I were the student, I would be angry because I do use my purses as backpacks (well, they're not purse-purse, but tote bags).
