[The crumpled letter has a piece of paper inside which bears a strange symbol on it- a yellow orb of light. Like other similar packages containing immaterial things like magic, it will absorb itself into Marisa the moment she touches it. She'll be able to sense right away that it's healing magic- and whoever it originally belonged to was certainly powerful, because she'll be able to feel the strength practically begging to be let out again.]

Westport? Yeah. I was there last year. They showed it on TV being full of people we all knew living happy drone lives. A road opened up to it, but it was a war-torn wasteland. Some people got stuck there for awhile, too.

Did... anyone come from there to here?

No. Everyone on that side was missing, or dead. But mostly it was empty. Only the hazmat men showed up a few days later, and the Milkman was there leaving usual poisoned deliveries.

Huh.

Whoa- wait! Poison? The hell is up with that milk guy?

Hm. Somebody warned me about the milk delivered here.

I'm a bit surprised that he'd deliver to a place without anybody living in it.

I have no idea why he was doing it there. Lure in gullible people?

I don't even know why he still does it here. Everyone is told the first day they get here to not touch that shit, and he still delivers anyway.

...no one told me.

[She's looking a little green now.]

. . . You haven't been drinking it, have you?

[ Not so much concern in her voice as an "ARE YOU SERIOUS?" tone. ]

If you had, you'd be dead and already learned your lesson.

No... I normally only have milk once or twice a week. Now I know why there wasn't any in the house...

Guess that thing I live with is good for something other than threatening to stab me.

Is that a trend for people we get stuck with?

My "father" [ you can hear the quotes around that one ] is loud, annoying, and stupid.

I live with three drones and a talking goddamn pony. I don't wanna hear it.

At any rate, milk from the store is safe.

Oh, that's Thor. He's a Norse god of thunder from the Outside World. I got him to punch a tree when he was claiming to be all powerful, yadda yadda yadda. It was funny. At least he won't try to murder you in your sleep.

Same with you and your talking pony, Theo.

I think I got the worse deal with the psychopathic alien insect thing.

Talking ponies and gods, huh? Hm. Those don't surprise me much.

But what exactly is an alien? Something like a monster?
