Sokka had hardly even seen his home in days. The fires, the chaos, but most of all, the worry had kept him away. He'd been on the move for more hours than he could count, and while the situation hardly seemed close to over, the young man had taken time to at least go home for a couple minutes to gather his thoughts and regroup with those he cared for.

He didn't see the smoke until it was too late. Changing clothes upstairs, he thought he smelled soot and ash and fire, but after days of the same, Sokka had guessed he was just smelling the world around him. It wasn't until the black smoke came rolling up the stairs and under the door that he realized he was sorely mistaken. And a moment later, he was certain he heard his girlfriend's voice, spiking his worry even higher ( ... )

The first place Suki headed to was the kitchen, hoping to find him there, but then she heard his voice coming from upstairs. She was freaking out, but she made sure to keep her cool. Freaking out wasn't going to help anyone right now. And more importantly, it was going to make it would only lead to her making a mistake.

"Sokka! I'm in the-" Before she could answer she let out a gasp, mainly surprised by flames at her side. They were far too close, which made her jump back to get away from the flames. "I'll meet you outside!" She managed to yell out to him.

It was hard to keep up with the flames. The back door was already covered, which she was going to use as a way out. And when she turned around, the fire was spreading to the door of the kitchen.

The smoke made it hard to see anything, and the roar of the flames took much of the volume from their voices. Sokka could pick out some of what Suki was saying, but for the most part, he only heard bits and pieces, including the information that she'd be trying to head outside ( ... )

Suki wasn't able to make it outside. The fire engulfed the doorway before she was able to make it out. Trying to brave the flames, she took a step closer to the door, only to have wood from the doorway come crashing down in front of her.

Tears were forming in her eyes. Part of it was because of the smoke, but it was mainly because she was scared, really scared. Either way the fire was going to get to her. She never felt so close to death before, and it was really getting to her. And as a mistake, she breathed in, letting the smoke enter her lungs, burning them.

The smoke caused her to cough. It was almost impossible for her to speak.

"Sah-Sok-" She started to cough again.

Keeping a clear head was becoming a difficult task. She was able to brave the air ship, but this was different. Fire was surrounding her then. There at least was some way out there. This? No matter which way she picked, she was going to have to deal with fire, and probably have to deal with her whole uniform on fire.
