After forgetting enough, I got into the habit of putting my daily dosage into a small pill box at the beginning of each day, so checking would be easy. (I also got into the habit of recording in my daily planner what time I take each dose.)
Prior to that, you could find me pouring out the entire bottle and counting the pills left to figure it out.
Yes, me too. Except now I've gone to the weekly pill box. With the daily pill box, I always had the problem that I wasn't sure if I'd taken the pills, or if I'd simply forgotten to reload the box. Now I have a 7-day pill box that I fill every Sunday, which avoids that problem. The major remaining challenge is keeping track of what day it is...
I got up to do something (I forget what) managed to forget to do it, did something entirely different, sat back down at my desk, was reminded that I needed to do that thing, got up to do it, yet again did something else, came back, sat down at my desk, remembered a third time, finally managed to get that thing done.
Yup, I'm in the pill box brigade as well. I also take some vitamins so have to put those in a pill box, although I sometimes still do that with my dinner dose

Something similar happens to me when I take my vitamins. I only take two (calcium and B12), but sometimes I can't remember if I've taken my calcium or not. While I'm still standing there with both vitamin bottles, and have yet to take my B12. ie. Less than 2 minutes after taking it. *facepalm*
