I spent much of today at work imagining the total destruction of my hometown, so I announce with great relief that most of New Orleans has been spared the worst.

It's not yet known how much our neighborhood flooded, and it likely won't be known for at least a couple more days. Authorities are advising people to wait at least a week before ( Read more... )

My sympathies. It's a very scary feeling to know someone or somewhere you care about is in danger, and not be able to do anything about it-- or, for that matter, even find out what's going on.

On the upside, much of your hometown may have benefited from a good rinsing-out . . .

I read this after sending you an email . . . Hopefully your neighborhood and home were spared the destruction that seemed to occur elsewhere in NO. And if I was your cousin, I'd be pretty worried too - scary stuff!
