I'm in Baton Rouge visiting my parents. Let's get the obvious stuff out of the way: they're a bit rattled but fine in the grand scheme of things. Dad is working long hours, so Mom enjoys having company during the day. We visited my grandparents in Vicksburg yesterday - they were thrilled to see me, naturally.

Nobody can predict what sort of city New Orleans will be when things return to ostensible normalcy. But it's reasonable to imagine that two major industries - tourism and oil - will take big hits. Median income will likely decrease. Population will decrease, of course. None of these events would bode well for our pro sports teams.

I'm now going to fixate on the New Orleans Saints as a means of escape. They won't be able to use the Superdome this year, of course, and have to decide where to play their home games.
