For better or for worse, I'm one of those people who can honestly say that a single decision affected more than 10 years of my life. When I was nine, I took a series of tests that eventually led to my enrolling in a programme for 'gifted' children. Think of it as a government project to harvest talent. intense. i don't think it makes you a soulless cap fiend just because you start buying stuff you wished you had. I mean, you can read capitalism into, like, half the things in the world. but it doesn't necessarily bear significance in the way things turned out for you in this aspect, i think?.
