I am knitting some knee socks, and I worked the sock elastic (in a 1x1 rib) in with the yarn like normal, but it made no observable difference. Am I missing something in using it?
Did you stretch the elastic as you knit it in? You have to stretch is as you knit so when it bounces back into its relaxed shape, then it will have the elasticity you want. If you knit it relaxed, then relaxed is how it will stay. You want it to stretch out only when your foot is in it. If you knit it taught, it will be relaxed when there's no leg in there, stretched where there is.
