if legs are the biggest muscle group in the body, why do they only get one day in the average training routine, with the remainder of the days focusing on smaller, weaker groups like the shoulders and biceps?

Because the average routine sort of sucks?

what's the solution?

i've never read of a weightlifting split with more than one day a week for legs.

think i should try it?

Upper/lower split.
Push/ Pull split.

i've written and done an upper/lower split for a long period of time... mostly i noticed i wasn't isolating enough to really hit anything as hard as when i do a 5-day split.

My legs get 3 days per week. So do all the other muscles.

Thats what I've been doing for a while now. Even when I did a split routine muscles got worked at least twice per week.

that seems excessive to me, but you're probably in better shape than me and it's not so much specifics as consistency.

how did you work everything twice a week?

true - but the deltoid is not as significant a muscle as say, the quadricep.

#3 is a big part of it, IMO. A lotta guys basically work the mirror muscles.

Because bigger muscles need more time to recover....
