Very good lessons to learn...and tough ones, yet so simple. I think back to an old Indigo Girls song..."the hardest to learn was the least complicated...". So true.
Sadly, it snowed here today. I'm very jealous of you and your lovely weather. :-P
Hope you enjoyed your quiet "me time". We all need that, every single day.
I enjoyed my quiet time... Dozed off even... Until the people upstairs started hammering on something... They just moved in a few days ago... And what a racket they make... Kids running around... Loud music... And today the hammering... And why all of sudden does it sound like they have wood floors upstairs?
Bleh...
It's so weird... When I was out running errands today... I looked ahead in the distance and there was a row of rather tall palm trees... And in the background were the mountains... Tops covered with snow... I wish I had my camera... It was beautiful... But a bit surreal... Palm trees...sunshine...snow on the mountain tops...
You should take pictures of palm trees, bright sunshine and mountains. It sounds beautiful. I'd love to see pictures.
Hang in there. You are doing fine.
I bought a baked chicken tonight at the grocery store. I picked off all the meat and threw everything else in the crockpot and filed it with water. I cleaned celery, onion, carrots, cabbage. I threw away chunks and scraps of vegetable cleaning, in with the chicken bones. I was generous with garlic, peppercorns, bay leaves and a few others. I'll cook it on low all night. Tomorrow moring I'll strain it all through cheesecloth, and throw away all the spent vegetables and bones.
A bag of frozen peas and carrots, bow tie pasta and you have chicken soup.
I had pho on Wednesday! It was yummy! And that chicken soup sounds divine! What time will it be ready? I'll bring some wine and a fresh loaf of bread from the bakery at Whole Foods Market on Arroyo (tis the largest Whole Foods west of the Rockies!) I could live in that store, with all the delicious goodies... Here's what written in the overview on their web page... http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/arroyo/index.html
"...extensive Seafood Bar, Wine and Tapas Lounge, Asian and Italian eateries, a fresh Juice Bar and a Nut Roaster; a Specialty department with more than 300 selections of cheeses; a Bakery department with custom cake decorating and fresh donuts made by the hour..."
And yes, it is as good as it sounds! I could wander around in their for hours... Pricey, but the selection is unbelievable...
I'm going to make it a habit to carry my camera with me all the time...

There's still snow on the ground here today, but the air is warming up so it probably won't hang around for much longer. I can't wait until spring!!
