Confused in so many ways.

At the moment, I'm 16 and a Senior in high school.
I will be graduating this coming March, and college classes will start in June.
Honestly speaking my teachers and friends say I'm a genius but very very lazy.
I used to be the class salutatorian back in my elementary days but during high school I just went happy-go-lucky.
Because of that, I am now only ( Read more... )

You sound me two years ago, so I'll pass down what my stepfather told me to you.

You should choose the path that you want to attain the most, one that which will financially be stable and help you achieve the other dreams, and if that doesn't working then perhaps you could try something that you love doing... because hey in the long run you could get rich and actually do something that you like.

I suggest that you do music as a part time thing, because you can be smart and talented at the same time! Just have it up as a back up and you can always combine math and science into two things and take up something in the medical field.

Good luck to you! :)

I plan on doing more of math, since I enjoy it, rather than Science in which I'm just good at it. What do you think? Is it a right decision?

Does it feel right to you? Would be the question you should ask yourself. As long as you enjoy what you're doing, then yes, it's the right decision. :)

You are 16, graduating from high school in the spring, and heading to college in June. This seems to put you way ahead of others your age. Most people are 18 when the graduate from high school - some are 17 - and do not start college until late summer or fall. I think it is very normal for you to be confused at this point, you are two years ahead of yourself. As far as being lazy and falling behind you can not recover the past, all you can do is resolve to do better in the future, and learn from this mistake. Rather then going to college in June maybe you should take some time off and enjoy the summer, then enroll in a community college in the fall. No matter what you go into there are classes you will be required to take, so get those out of the way while you are catching up with your age, and do more serious thinking about what field you might want to follow. After a year or even two in community college you should have a better idea of what you want, and hopefully you will have learned to better use your time. Being a " ( ... )

You can try out a lot of different subjects there, get some credits down while still figuring out what you want to do. And if you find out, you can still stay there and get the core classes out of the way until you decide to go official.

I'd try different subjects but I already know what I want, just don't know which to continue. :x

speaking as a person who is only just in my first semester of university at age 20, because I took time off, it is definitely okay to not know for sure what you want to do. You're only 16. College is about exploring your interests- if you like all those things, great, by all means, study a bit of them all, and something will stand out as being the one you like the most. Or if not, you could always double major.

Don't worry about choosing the wrong major. It's not marked in stone, you can change your mind. Lots of people do.

No first year student has it all figured out. Like I said, college is about exploration.

Sorry to jump in here, but I had a similiar issue with my dad. He wanted me to do maths because it was more practical and had a better job prospects. I'm doing philosophy instead and love it.

If I'd have taken the course some one else wanted me to do, I'd have resented them for it. Your parents will still love you, even if you dont do what they want, and your friends aint much good as friends if they dont care about what you want.

If you can, take some time to work out what you need, you will be much happier with the result.
