It has taken Gabriel centuries to come this far; this close to everything falling into place, every last piece of the puzzle aligning so very neatly. "I certainly didn't mean to." And then he turns to the boy with a smile. "You're welcome... I figured you could use some measure of familiarity and comfort."
And that in itself isn't nearly the entire truth, but there is no divine mandate prohibiting angels from keeping things from the inhabitants of the mortal realm. Most of the time, in fact, they are bound not to speak at all.
