A penny, or food, for thought

It has taken Gabriel centuries to come this far; this close to everything falling into place, every last piece of the puzzle aligning so very neatly. But even with the approaching dawn, he'll always have time for those who need him. Hurt and angry as he'd been...no. Kurt would never give up his faith. With the days that had passed he was easing back into listening with his heart through the ache. It hadn't been working very well...or so he'd thought.

Kurt jerks a little bit - he hadn't been expecting company - and then smiles.

"No matter what world I am in, you always find me. Thank you."

"I startled you." The thin eyebrows smooth their way up his forehead in a barely noticeable arch. Then, handing Kurt the cup and saucer, he takes a seat right beside him to let his eyes roam the sky.

"I certainly didn't mean to." And then he turns to the boy with a smile. "You're welcome... I figured you could use some measure of familiarity and comfort."

And that in itself isn't nearly the entire truth, but there is no divine mandate prohibiting angels from keeping things from the inhabitants of the mortal realm. Most of the time, in fact, they are bound not to speak at all.

"He's not the only one," Gabriel muses softly. "But you're in your every right to be oblivious. You're healing." And he says so with understated confidence.

"You're tired." And that, with concern.
