EDIT 2: 'Front passenger side fender is caved in'
EDIT: Pics fixed
I drive by a dangerous intersection twice each work day, where Parker Street crosses over Route 9 in Newton. Today, a truck pulled out, not so much in front of me, as actually into me. The pictures do not do all the damage justice. The front passenger side fender is caved in, the bumper pushed into the drivers side front panel. Not sure about the hood yet. The front passenger wheel is off line and the axle and tie rods likely bent. The windshield wiper reservoir is smashed, and while I have not popped the hood yet, I expect some other engine compartment damage. Passenger door is damaged and the mirror is in sad shape. I'd be shocked if the frame is undamaged. On the slow drive home, and in retrospect it should have been towed, the brakes and ABS were not fully functional. The brakes worked, but sounded terrible.
Two Newton Fire Officials were in the car behind me, so there is no question about fault, as they clearly saw her pull out into my car. Paramedics arrived, but no one (driver and passenger in the truck) wanted to be checked out. Claim filed, car waiting for insurance review, but I still need to fill out the police report. I expect her insurance to provide a rental car at no cost, but I'll see how that argument goes.
I'm happy that no one was hurt, and I'm not all that upset, because really, what good does that do. But it's a hassle and inconvenience I could have done without right now.

Mom's having her tracheal opening sutured shut as I type, and she will be spending the night at the hospital, so I may see about taking the T into Boston.
