There's a movie out this weekend, and I really want to see it. But, at the same time, I really don't.

You see, growing up, my parents said they'd get me and my brother a subscription to one comic each. My brother chose The Beano, and I chose Transformers. I started collecting the comic from about issue 36, and on it went, over the next few ( Read more... )

Ah, I understand.

It's similar to the reason I take months to get up the courage to buy new books by my favourite authors...

I think its going to be cool but quite different to the original, which i have been watching as of late.

I'm not really a fan of Transformers, I've seen bits and pieces. I can say that the film as a non-fan works pretty damn well. There are changes made where they need to be made, you couldn't directly adapt the look of the transformers any more than you could put wolverine in yellow and black spandex in an x-men movie.

Optimus Prime is the best there, especially when he puts on his battle mask and kicks decepticon ass.

I'm still looking forward to the film, even though it won't be the same as my childhood memories of tranformers. All my American friends who've seen it say it's excellent, and they run the gamut from fan to "no interest in the original stuff".

So here's hoping...

Personally, tickets booked for sunday and looking forward to it.

On the other hand, I can see your reasons for worry. I know I'm looking at it as something that'll be vaguely fun but I don't expect it to be a life-changing experience. I booked it at the same time as booking Die Hard 4, and I don't really have a preference on either - they both look like they're going to be basically traditional action movies, just one has giant robots the other doesn't (or at least not that I know :P)

Die Hard 4.0 has the unfortunate downside that it's one of the worst directed movies of all time.
