I hate not finishing a book as much as I do not finishing a game, though I tend to do the latter more often.

In the past I've read Terry Brooks's Magic Kingdom of Landover series, which juggled humor and seriousness in equal measure. It amused me as a teen, and was one of my favorite fantasy series.

Apart from the blatant sexism, as I'm (gasp) not much of a LOTR freak, that doesn't sound very good to me either.

I'm almost done with book 2 of the Landover series and enjoying it.

Yeah, I actually actively despise LotR in its written form. The damn things put me to sleep every time.

Landover doesn't take itself so seriously, which is why I'll be revisiting that series as soon as I can bother to dig them out again.
