Bodybuilding

My current goal in life is to do 100 push-ups in a row. Right now I can do 20 or 30 before my form starts to suck, so I've got a ways to go.

Why? Well, I have skinny arms. I'm sorry--slender arms. I get compliments on them from time to time; they're apparently very feminine. Also, I've been seeing (probably because of the Olympics) bunches and ( Read more... )

Take a look at the volleyball players. Now those living proof of muscular AND very attractive women. Screw women's articles writers.

I would love to have arms like a shotputter. No way in hell am I going to get them without taking steroids, sadly enough.

As far as looks go, my whole problem is that it seems like while men are expected to work out in order to become stronger, women are supposed to work out to become thinner. Women are, by and large, supposed to be concerned with how their bodies look rather than what their bodies can do.

Feminine or masculine, I don't find bulky, body-builder type muscles particularly attractive.

But I'd be happy with arms like either the swimmers or volleyball players (male or female).

Good luck -- I don't think I've ever done more than half that.

I'm built long and lanky--there's no way I'm really going to add too much bulk. Snit aside, I'm not really doing this because I want huge arms, but I read this long article (can't find it right now) about how women should work out in order to avoid gaining any bulk on the upper body. That just bugged me on so many levels.

I used to be able to do 75 or so with good form, back when I ran track & field. So I'm optimistic.
