More fandom thoughts

God. SGA is seriously like a drug. Every time I quit I think I'm done for good, and every time, a few months later, I'm sidling up to old recs pages again.

Of course, I haven't seen any of Season 5 yet. I gather that it might put a serious damper on my enjoyment.

I've seen only one SGA episode in my life, which was last Friday night, mainly because it had Bill Nye (as Bill Nye!) in it.

Any show that does this with good humor and snappy dialogue is fine in my book. (Though I laughed hysterically every time he said something science-y, because, dude, Bill Nye.)

What I love about SGA is that the fandom is completely insane--in an awesome, freakish way. I actually started reading fic for it before I ever saw the show. It's cool because it's not really the sort of show that tends to appeal to teenybopper fanbrats--most of the main characters are middle aged and not all that attractive--so the general quality of fic is much higher than, say Harry Potter.
