Southerisms

With all the idealism of Fall in my last entry, I would like to say that it was only a sneak peak tease preview. It's back to old hot South again. And, speaking of the South...I am all for preserving the dialect and the art of turning a phrase. Hmm,I don't know that I could come up with any that we haven't already shared or don't already use in our dialect with each other! Incidentally, I was working at a nursing home yesterday morning and this nurse looked up at me and was like "Daaaannng, girl, where you from?" I told her, and her response was "GOD you're southern." Turns out she was from Boston, so my accent really hit her in the face. I was kind of proud for some reason. haha

I've been told about the strangeness of words like "buggy" instead of shopping cart and "bobo" instead of hurt or sore. But thats all that comes to mind at the time. In a strange way, I am proud of my Southern-ness. Even the dreaded and much made fun of accent.
