Along with many others, I am stranded until a certain antisocial geological event gets over its angst. But on the bright side, San Francisco is defiantly near the top of my list of places to get stranded in.

That does indeed sound like an awesome place to get stuck :) As long as you've got somewhere to stay and the funds to cover it that is, but from your post it sounds like you got it covered.

I'm sure your work'll be fine with it, they've made a really big deal out of it on the news over here and there's lots of people stranded, mostly families who took holidays during easter break (the schoolkids go back tomorrow). I had to be careful when ordering books yesterday not to order anything shipping from the US :S It's funny how many little things are affected by this.

And yet, from a science/nature point of view, it's very very cool.
