IM Log: It's not about me. It's about a 'friend'.

Jan 25, 2009 19:04

Characters: Caim, Zalbag Beoulve
Date: Jan. 24
Summary: Caim goes to talk to Zalbag about death, love, and Furiae and Cassandra. Zalbag gives Caim something to think about.
Warnings: None.

"Caim" (9:12:58 PM): Lord Zalbag, a moment of your time, if I may.
"Lord Zalbag" (10:12:06 PM): Ahh, Lord Caim. Forgive my late response. I've been quite preoccupied with lesson plans. What can I do for you?
"Caim" (10:12:28 PM): I wished to ask your opinion of something. You are a wise man, and one who has defied death to the fullest.
"Lord Zalbag" (10:13:07 PM): I suppose I've defied death, yes. Though I've experienced it even for a short while. What is it that you seek?
"Caim" (10:16:01 PM): ... There is someone I believed to have died. Someone I would sooner give my life for if necessary, without question, without pause, without the mere shuffle of this mortal coil. However... I question whether it is appropriate for prior imprisonment to be... better than death.
"Lord Zalbag" (10:28:00 PM): Hmm.... Indeed, that is something that is hard to decipher. However, I believe it more important that said someone is alive. This someone... did they seek for a second chance at life? Did they wish to live once more?
"Caim" (10:35:38 PM): It... would appear so. I was told as much. I am concerned for the safety of this person. The ability to have freedom and liberation is not a concept familiar to the particular individual. It leaves me in a rough bind, as I... am somewhat at a loss.
"Lord Zalbag" (10:38:31 PM): Mayhap it would be best to take everything in stride. And also to do your best to keep her from the atrocities of the midnight hour. I don't suspect that they are yet aware of this, correct?
"Caim" (10:40:23 PM): ... She is rather well-informed. She likely sensed it upon her arrival. She is a brilliant woman, after all. A goddess, if I may be so bold. The Goddess, rather.
"Lord Zalbag" (10:40:55 PM): Is that right....
"Caim" (10:41:19 PM): Indeed. A woman who has gone through many plights, carrying the burden of the world upon her shoulders, and my own as well.
"Caim" (10:55:05 PM): There... does appear to be a bit more... Though it is something I would not confide in just... anyone.
"Lord Zalbag" (10:56:27 PM): That's quite understandable. But I ask... is she aware of her method of death?
"Caim" (10:56:53 PM): Indeed... Suicide.
"Lord Zalbag" (10:59:13 PM): I see... Though again, I think it wise to accept that they are once again alive. Like myself, it seems as if she was given another chance. Even though I've no longer the means of communicating with my younger brother, I will see to it that I live this life as much possible.
"Caim" (10:59:43 PM): I am well certain she does feel the same. However...
"Caim" (10:59:54 PM): I... must... ask your opinion on something... rather...
"Lord Zalbag" (11:00:19 PM): Yes?
"Caim" (11:00:22 PM): That is to say, hardly the expertise of an accomplished swordsman like myself.
"Lord Zalbag" (11:01:14 PM): What is it, Lord Caim?
"Caim" (11:01:28 PM): Love. The idea of.
"Lord Zalbag" (11:07:39 PM): I see.
"Caim" (11:07:44 PM): ...
"Caim" (11:08:01 PM): It is not I of whom I speak.
"Lord Zalbag" (11:13:30 PM): The other, I suspect.
"Caim" (11:13:39 PM): Yes. Indeed.
"Caim" (11:13:45 PM): Two, actually.
"Lord Zalbag" (11:13:52 PM): Towards you, I presume?
"Caim" (11:14:28 PM): Affirmative.
"Lord Zalbag" (11:22:14 PM): You've not an idea of how to approach this, correct?
"Caim" (11:23:04 PM): Not yet. I thought I would have an idea, but apparently I do not, nor do I believe shall I.
"Lord Zalbag" (11:23:43 PM): I would advise to do what you believe is best. Again, one day at a time.
"Caim" (11:24:19 PM): Then I will continue to do what I believe is best for the woman longing for freedom.
"Caim" (11:36:29 PM): Tell me. What were the... rules of love in Ivalice?
"Lord Zalbag" (11:37:02 PM): I'm not fully understand that I follow, Lord Caim. Love, in itself, bears no rules.
"Lord Zalbag" (11:38:00 PM): I'm not certain that I fully understand, nor do I follow, Lord Caim. Love in itself bears no rules. Only feelings and matters of the heart. I... suppose this bears somewhat of a resemblance of myself towards Lord Edge.
"Caim" (11:39:41 PM): You and Lord Edge are an appropriate pair, I will admit. It is hardly my place to be able to think anything of love, however. A man of the land should not consider such. Perhaps that is where I arrive at my fork.

zalbag beoulve, caim
