Though I am certain it was done with the most noble intent, the hawks should never have been loosed. We cannot have our pigeon population so horribly over-hunted as they are now.

Coen and Antonia will require aid in re-capturing the birds. We would be most grateful to any who can return a bird to them.

... Depending on how upset the birds would be by noise, I could possibly aid in recapturching them. Their natural defenses aren't of concern to me, either.

[Considering he's big enough to just enclose them in his hands.... though if they fly away from engine noise, not much he can do.]

They should be accustomed to most life-forms save canines. Though should you have difficulty, you will find luring them to be far easier should you use raw meat.

Even... something non-organic capable of flying, like currently ten foot tall alien robots?

[A pause, and he has to consider that. Raw meat?]

Bait, since that is part of their usual diet, I assume?

[He's... not sure he wants to touch raw meat.]

You are not familiar with falconry.

[It's not a question.]

The hawks are trained to return to their master's arm when offered a lure of raw meat. Had they not fed so well on pigeon and were they returning to one familiar, then the task would be somewhat easier. But it is not impossible otherwise. They have been well taught. Your appearance should not matter.

You need only cover the bird's head once it has landed and it will remain calm whilst you return it to it's roost.

I see.

[No, he doesn't know falconry. A bit hard to do that, considering the amount of time he was... aware... on Earth. He appreciates the information.]

Darkness triggers a reflex to stay calm and still? Mm... Would it work to simply cover the whole bird with my hands? I doubt I will have small enough digits to be able to manipulate a hood meant to cover something as small as a hawk.

A hand will suffice, yes.

... I should be able to assist then.

[You'll have to excuse the slight hesitance; he's still not sure he's all that eager to be touching raw meat. That's not where meat belong after all, but then, carnivorous animals do that.]

I would be most grateful.

Coen or Antonia will make it known when they are in need of your assistance. Though if you have the opportunity to recapture a bird before then and are able to return it to the mews on your own, I am certain they will be no less appreciative.
