I brought a bunch of Iain (M) Banks firsts at a book auction and it got me thinking. I got the twelve books for sixty pounds, plus a 22% buyer's premium, and with travelling into London to get them takes the "cost" to just under one hundred pounds ( Read more... )

I was lucky enough to be able to sell my collection of Gareth Thomas theatre photographs to another fan in its entirety for about what it cost me. It had taken much effort and research to assemble, but I hit a point when we needed the cash.

I think that with a lot of collections they mean a lot to people the same age as you. When you die, a lot of the other people the same age as you will also have died. The collectors will be fewer, and the collections more available.

Now, what did I want to do with Chris O's 2000AD collection?
