SUMMARY: Reading each others minds bound Yesung and Siwon together. They know everything about each other, they share every thought with each other. But what happens when Siwon blocks Yesung out?
A small framed boy went down the road. His head hung low, his gaze lowered to the floor. He didn't have the courage to look up. He didn't dared to show his pale face with these big dark eyes of his to these people around him.
»Oh look at him!« »Isn't that the creeper from my parallel class?« »Scary.« »Look at those clothes!« »What a daunting boy.« »The poor parents with a kid like that.« »What a dark aura he has.«
Why couldn't those people let him be? Why did they always hurt him? Why couldn't they let him live like any other human being around them? The small boy pressed his hands to his ears, as if he could block out those words by doing so. But those words weren't spoken. These people around him didn't say them out loud. Those words were pure thoughts. Nothing that really got voiced. But he could hear them. He could understand them. They echoed in his mind, made his head spin. It was impossible to blank them out. They sounded clear and piercing though his mind and hurt him deep inside. Since he had been little, people told him he possessed a cold aura. Something dark and horrifying. Something that made it hard for those around him to like him; to accept him.
Tears began to trail down his pale cheeks. He couldn't take it any longer. Every thought that echoed through his mind was a sting to his heart. Why couldn't he be like all the other kids in his school? Why couldn't he be just as innocent and naive as they were? Why was he even born with those creepy skills? Wasn't he a normal human being? He was just a eight year old kid. The burden of reading; no it was more hearing; the thoughts of unacquainted persons was just too harsh for him. He couldn't control his ability. He couldn't do anything about it. The thoughts of those around him just flood into his mind and he hated it. He hated it with every single part of his tiny body.
With a suppressed cry the boy started to run; hands still attached to his ears.
»Jagiya, are you alright?« Slowly Yesung opened his eyes. Darkness and silence were all around him, the curtains shut out the lights from the street lamps and the lamps in the bedroom itself were off. He could feel how someone was stroking is back gently.»Why did you cry?« he could hear his lover's warm words in his head. Those words weren't spoken. He cried? With a shaky hand he touched his own face. His cheeks felt hot and wet under his fingertips. »Was it a nightmare?«
Nodding slightly Yesung turned around to face the younger male. He hated it when he was that weak. He hated it when he cried. And he hated it even more when others saw him in such a state. But there was no point in hiding his weakness from Siwon. Siwon knew him; Siwon knew him probably even better than Yesung knew himself. The younger male has always been there for him. They shared their thoughts and abilities; they shared their happy and sad moments with each other; they lived together in one apartment and slept in one bed; sometimes it felt as they were one person distributed in two separate bodies. They were more than just lovers; they were friends, they were soulmates - how teenage girls would describe it - they had known that they belonged to each other since the first time they had met.
Siwon embraced him, holding Yesung close to his chest. He was tracing smoothing patterns with his fingertips on the older's back. He knew what was bothering his lover; Yesung's feelings and thoughts were just like an open book for him. In those past 15 years they have been knowing each other the other male had become the closest person in his life. Til back then he hadn't had any problems to give everything up so that he could be together with him. He had left his family behind, he had moved from Daegu to Seoul, he had bought a apartment, he had learned how to cook, he had taken Tae kwon do lessons to protect Yesung - even though the latter didn't want to be protected -, he had done everything he had been capable of, just to be together with the older male. It was like an obsession, but he didn't mind. He was in love with Yesung and being together with him was more than he could ever wish for.
Yesung slowly relaxed in his boyfriend's arms. He pulled the covers up to his chin and sighed nearly inaudible. He didn't want to think about where he would have been right now, if Siwon hadn't found him 15 years ago. »It's still early, try to sleep some more«, he heard Siwon's thought clear and comforting in his mind. Yesung smiled weakly and snuggled up to him, resting his head on Siwon's upper arm. He knew why the younger man didn't ask him what he had dreamed of. He knew that Siwon already knew what that nightmare had been about. Some minutes in silent with Siwon still stroking his back were enough for Yesung to fell asleep. His breathing evened out and Siwon knew that it was okay now to go back to sleep himself.
»So, that's why you're always sitting here all by yourself? The other children are afraid of you because you're reading their minds and give them answers although they didn't voice their questions yet. You know, you shouldn't do that, right?« Yesung was sitting on a swing; alone. Nobody was beside him. Nobody wanted to be with him. It was already getting dark and normally it would be time to go home for a ten year old child like him. Startled he lifted his gaze to meet the eyes of a small boy in front of him. He had short black hair and dark, nearly black orbs. His childish features showed an expression as if he knew everything about Yesung.
»D-Did you just read my mind?«, Yesung asked tilting his head. The seemingly younger boy nodded. »I can read your thoughts like an open book. Shouldn't you try to block me out?« It was only now, that Yesung noticed, that the other boy didn't use his voice to speak to him. He heard the other's words in his mind, but he didn't saw or heard him speaking.
»My name is Siwon. I'm new in this neighborhood.« The shorter boy sat down on another swing but his gaze remained on Yesung's face. The latter opened his mouth to speak, but Siwon's words in his head stopped him. »I know, you're name is Yesung and you're living with your parents and your younger brother down the street.« The older boy gasped in surprise. »You really can read my thoughts!« he exclaimed jumping up from his spot. »Ssht! The others already think you're a creep, don't give them a reason to think you're wacky too.« »You're the real creep here! Why don't you use your mouth to speak with me? Why are you in my head?!« Yesung squeaked looking at the younger boy as if he was some kind of an alien. He could see how Siwon's chest heaved but he couldn't hear a sigh. »You can't speak«, he stated, reading the younger's mind. The boy in front of him nodded slightly. »That's why I thought we could be friends. We're the same. You're like me, but you have to learn how to blind out all the thoughts around you. If you continue to read every single mind you will become insane.« »That's possible? I can learn to not hear them?«, hope strained his words and Siwon nodded again.
It was short after eight o' clock when Yesung woke up again. When he put out his hand to sample the mattress beside him, he grasped at nothing. Surprised he opened his eyes and looked beside him. Siwon wasn't there. He blinked a few times before he tumbled up and made his way into the kitchen.
»There you are«, he smiled at Siwon who was sitting at the dining table; newspaper in his hands. »Good morning Jagiya, I didn't want to wake you.« »It's okay. How are you?« Coffee in his hands Yesung sat down beside his lover. Siwon kissed his lips briefly before he turned his attention back to the newspaper article. Something seemed off and Yesung frowned. But when he tried to read Siwons thoughts he found nothing. Siwon totally blocked him out. »It's your holiday starting today, right?«, the younger asked and Yesung nodded. »Siwon, what is it?« It wasn't normal that Siwon blocked him out. Normally they didn't have any secrets in front of each other. They never blocked each other out. Their minds were always connected; that's why Yesung started to panik. »What do you mean?«, Siwon seemed totally calm. His thoughts in Yesung's mind were clear and warm like always. »Why would you conceal your thoughts? You never do that.«
Since the day 15 years ago they always have been together. Siwon had recognized him as a gifted person like himself. He had protected him even though Yesung was older than him. He had helped him to gain control over his ability; they had almost become one person and now Siwon wouldn't let him read his mind. What was wrong?
Siwon grabbed his hands and patted them slightly. »It's nothing, ok? I have to go now.« He got up from his spot and left the kitchen. »SIWON! You're not going to leave me, are you? You won't do that, right? You won't break up with me?«, he nearly screamed but he didn't get an answer. All he could hear was the front door closing. »DAMN!«, he cussed, throwing his cup against the wall. An ugly fawn stain blemished the wall where his cup had hit. The whole wall seemed to be sprinkled with coffee and the floor didn't look any better.
It was around one pm when Yesung got a short message.
"Jagiya, I'm at the air port. My flight is set for 3 pm." He had to read it ten times before he finally understood what Siwon was telling him. Was he really leaving him? How could he and without saying one word?!
Yesung needed thirty minutes to arrive at the airport and ten more minutes to find Siwon. The younger man was standing near a check in counter. »Are you insane? How can you leave me like that? Do you hate me?«, he started shouting even before he reached his lover. He ignored the looks that he earned from the people around him. He ignored that some of the other passengers stopped in their tracks to look at him, to shook their heads. Siwon turned around to face him, a small smirk playing on his lips. »Why do you want to leave me? Do you have another man? Do...«
Yesung stopped shouting when he could hear Siwon's thoughts in his head. »Let's get married.« »What?!« He looked at his younger boyfriend in disbelief. »I said let's get married.« The older man blinked at few times. »Siwon... We're in Korea, nobody will wed us.« »That's why we're flying to Las Vegas.« Siwon showed him two flight tickets, before he kneeled down and took Yesung's small hands in his own hands. »So, will you marry me? Even though it won't be a official marriage, but let us do it for the symbolic of it.« Yesung looked at him. He didn't know what to say. He started nodding slightly, before he pulled the younger man up. »I will...«, Yesung breathed against Siwons lips before he pecked those briefly. »You aren't really romantic?«, he asked teasingly and he could hear his soon-to-be-groom's laugh in his head. »Seems like you have to deal with it.«
Siwon captured his lips in a sweet, tender kiss and Yesung let himself melt into the younger's touch. Soon thoughts with awful insults started to flood his mind, but Siwon reminded him to blank them out. Words like "disgusting" and "fags" or "blasphemy" just didn't match with this situation. »Promise me to never block me out again.« »I promise.« Intertwining their hands together they went to check in for their flight to Las Vegas. For their flight on which end they would marry each other even though their marriage wouldn't be official in front of the Korean law. But being together is everything that counts, right?
