Snuggly warm

On Friday we had a chimney sweep come and give the chimney a good clean. On Friday evening logs were gathered (well bought) and since then we've had a lovely open fire in our lounge. Last year we never got around to getting the chimney done. I'm so glad we did this year! I've been snuggled down in front of the fire most of the evening with one of

Very jalous of the open fire. We need to do work on our chimneys before we can have an open fire but I'm determined to get that done for next winter!

Was it much hassle, getting the chimney swept? I might need to do that before I have my new gas fire installed. I did think about getting an open fire, but I'd only be allowed to use smokeless coal and it's too much hassle for how often I'd use it.

We have a gas fire (which is useless and we never use) installed in an open fireplace. I have occasionally contemplated getting the chinmney swept and having a real fire, but I'm close to 100% sure that the hassle would outweigh the benefit.

Of fireplaces and equines

I live in a place where real fires are a main source of heat, not a suplimental, and they demand levels of care and feeding which make horses look low-maintenance!
Having said that, I love having real fires.

Simon just did a search on google maps for one nearby. We did try one last year and he kept having an excuse for not coming. The one we tried this year was fine.
