Well, I for one want as little to do with them as possible now.

Considering that my comic is just a couple random scrawls and sketches and I don't use their site anyway, that's not that huge of an effect on them. I doubt it'll change their mind or actions much.

Holy mackeral that thing was long. I couldn't finish it but I did have a question about the hypertext linking that was mentioned.

Is it true that you can link to someone's work without their permission and still be legal? Technically I suppose it's gotta be true cause you aren't using their work and giving full credit and citation just like for a research paper or something...

But when requested for someone not to quote/cite/link their work... I'd assumed that the person in question had the legal rights to have the citation/link removed.

shooman out

PS... realized I might have written too much. (I'm always too word) Summary:
Is removing a hypertext link at a request a matter of only courtesy to an individual or rather both legal and courtesy?

It's only a courtesy.

I just hate those kind of guys, thinking all is permitted because this is the internet. I just have one question for you, is queen of wands really finished or is it just a pause?

You know that QoW is listed at ComicAlert, right? (Not that they were ever assholes to you, but should you not like the whole pinging issue, they do it too.)

Sad that there is no Comicon in my future this year,
alison!

I must be odd. I actually KNOW when the ones that I like are supposed ot update.

Anyone that comes from their site to yours should see the "we don't care" comment.

I recall one way to mess up they're little check program is to put the current time on your page - ever test comes up positive. A redirector makes it come up negative, unless they are smart enough to detect that.

Whatever. They mean nothing.

(Sorry about the posts under the wrong entry. Extenuating circumstances - I'm an idiot.)

I don't suppose keenspot supports this, but anyone who has their own hosting/server could always add a line to their .htaccess file that throws a 403 to Comic Nation's server's IP addresses. That would also have the benefit of keeping their ping script from using your bandwidth. While they _can_ legally link to you (IE it's just courtesy that they ask), you are quite within your rights to restrict their access.

Of course, offering users something just as good, if not better (I'm talking about RSS here) is a good idea too.
