Just as I wrote the previous entry, someone bid 10 on my Fivefingers!
Oh dear.
I put my Karrimor treadmill running shoes on (the ONLY trainers I own!) and went for a run towards the duck pond.
The GPS again couldn't pick up for a while so unspent a few minutes admiring a Three Brooks nature reserve sign before I heard 'I'm ready!' Coming from my headphones. With Ministry of Sound generic running soundtrack on, I couldn't decide whether to do the slow jogging pace or to go all out for a minute and then parade with my tongue around my neck for the rest of the route.
I went a bit faster than usual, or so I thought. Strava has mixed feelings about this as it pops a lot of 3rd best and 2nd best pieces.
I run for 4.04km -Strava again has trust issues and says it was 3.9km.
I must admit that I said a few days ago that I could comfortably do 3km jogging. It was a misspell. I meant to write 2 but then pressed 'send'. And then I was too embarrassed to edit it on FB.
So- today I thought I'd push myself a bit and see what I am actually able to do comfortably. After the first 10m or so I got a stitch. That's when I decided that going full out wasn't the best idea, especially after sausage and garlic baguette dinner. I reduced the pace a bit and went past the duck pond, realised that the bench my parents and I sat just after my daughter was born wasn't actually stolen as I had thought previously. It was just a bit further away. So I run past it and then turned around as it was getting dark. I thought 'little steps' in my head - it's like playing a game with oneself. 'I win if I can get to the community orchard'. 'I win if I can run to the bridge' then it was he next bridge and then it was all the way home. When I thought I was just about to fail, I focused on the music.
Getting the TomTom Spark was a good idea. Exactly what I wanted to track my route, my heart rate, and be able to play music wirelessly...
I then got back home and drunk some water. 'Mums get fit' group on FB has this week's challenge of:
10 press ups, 10 leg extensions, 10 walking lounges, 10 bridges - repeat 5 times.
I managed to do 3 out of 5 sets before panting and getting lightheaded. The husband bright me water. Much appreciated :)
