We just moved from overseas to VA, and my 3rd grader will NOT be joining a local troop. The Girl Scout stuff is just too much BS and no fun or spontaneity or teaching of useful skills. They seem obsessed with liability and sales (though the sales are illegal with overseas troops). Anyway, it's an activity that has deteriorated in the past 20-25 years to the point of no longer being worthwhile.
