For the first time in a few years, I updated my resume and realized I'd found myself in more of an architecting/strategy position than a developer one. I confirmed that's what my direct manager is looking for, and immediately started looking for other positions. That's an interesting question from your friend. I know there are a few people who do that, but they are very few,I think. Harvard has a rowing program, or did when my brother attended, but I don't know if they still do. (My brother was skinny, brainy, asthmatic and not athletic. Students were required to do a sport and he was coxswain).

They still have their rowing program. It's a big deal in the Ivy league. She's not tall enough for an Ivy, and I'd rather she end up in a club rowing program than a highly competitive one, just due to time requirements. College sports can be crazy (since we're trying to plan some visits for this summer, and some of the colleges she was considering have a Div 1/2/3 rowing program, I thought I'd look into what that means in time commitments; it's like adding a full time job on top of your undergrad work).
