My sister-in-law, who is American born Chinese, also turns red when she drinks, and she told me that it's common among Asians. It's a histamine reaction, so they take an anti-histamine before they go to a social function where they'll be drinking.

Maybe it would work for you and your dad.

Ooh! I'd heard about Asians having the same sort of thing, but never knew about the anti-histamine trick, and will definitely have to try that. Thanks!
