Nobody else might get this, or care, but I just saw a Miss Maners article entitled "They're expecting...and the baby's gender is nobody's business but their own." It must be a very unusual baby (or with unusual parents) to have gender issues already, because biologically, it should only have sex (physical characteristics) at this point in time. I get it. And it's something that always bugs me. I see it with baby animals too: "there's a new panda cub, but its gender is yet to be determined". I didn't really realize that animals had gender. Although I suppose you could argue that they have certain sex-related roles that are not purely biological, but still.

haha. i like this entry. it made me laugh out loud in the library! i've been thinking about this very thing lately because there are so many new babies in my family now. one is a boy and one is a girl, and good lord the blue and pink of it all. gender speculation = pointless in babies on every level.
