I think I will try to start posting here more often. Things to post about:
  • Breadmaking Adventures
  • Gardening
  • Music
  • Random Stuff-Making

My most recent breadmaking adventure was bagels. It actually isn't as hard to make them as I expected, but I did run into a few pitfalls. The basic process is:
  • Make dough

The purple things up top are hyacinth. I've got scads of the little blue thigns as well, but I don't know what they are either.

Do you give your bagels a saltwater bath before you bake them?

Also, a dowel rod is very good for spinning them - no RSI from marathon bagel making!

No saltwater bath -- boiled in water with a little bit of brown sugar for two minutes on each side, then baked.

Will have to try the dowel the next time I do bagels..

I'm betting the little blue stuff is either glory of the snow or Scilla.
