Love it! I love the Heyer references (A Civil Contract is my favourite too) and how clearly Eudokia's courage comes across. Poor woman, to end up Serg's mother - do we know what happens to her later on?

She's only mentioned in canon in a Civil Campaign, when their marriage was the last of a reigning Emperor. In this verse I think she dies when Serg is three, in an attempt at a second child.
