Oh, I definitely got nervous!Blaine from his "we're going to Nationals!" little speech, I've always liked how Darren's Blaine voice has some particular enunciation ticks and when he's nervous, he sort of falters his words a little. So yeah, it read the same way to me.
This is such an intense recap+gif post, girl. Damn.
I'm with you in that as much as they're denying it, there has got to be at least some discussion about the spinoff happening. There was so much Kurt/Blaine/Rachel interaction going on and so much discussion about New York and the future. Plus, the show seems to have retconned a lot of season two's events except for the Klaine and Hummelberry. It's like they said, "Okay guys, season two happened, but it didn't happen, you know?" (does that even make sense?).
I also totally get you about the Kurt/Mercedes. I don't know how unpopular that is, since people seem to LOVE Hummelberry, but I haven't felt Kurt/Mercedes as a friendship for a good while (I think Grilled Cheesus was the turning point). I think Rachel and Blaine have proven themselves to be much better friends to Kurt, and can relate to him on a far greater level.
I took a break from listening to 'Something's Coming' on repeat to read this :) That song is just awesome, and I hope everyone who said Darren wasn't ready for Broadway is now eating their words!!
I adored the whole of this episode - it was well worth staying up into the early hours of Wednesday morning to watch. I'm almost torn between whether I loved the Hummelberry scenes more than the Klaine scenes, but I think my boys just win out. That scene in the Lima Bean was just perfect, then there was the hug, and Blaine's solo with all the Blaintana goodness had me literally squealing out loud!!!
I can't wait for the rest of this series. As much as Chris Colfer is a wonderful actor at the angstier stuff, I think he also has excellent comedic timing, and I really hope that is something they use to full effect this season.
I had to watch the PPP with my family -- who SUPPOSEDLY like Glee. Instead of glorying in Klaine and Hummelberry, unmolested, I got to hear how "meh" it was for everyone. I should be able to overcome that, I suppose, but it cast a pall.
Your fine-grained, GIF-y recap reclaimed the joy! Thank you! It was like watching it again with a fellow fangirl.
