On Typing

So I have finally admitted, quite reluctantly, that I have to get at least a part-time job. It was suggested that I try to weasel my way into a school system, perhaps in a secretarial position, as the hours would allow me to continue the private lessons in the evening ( Read more... )

You'll do fine.

Although I took a typing class in high school that taught me how to touch-type, it was years of chat rooms that got me as fast as I am. :)

I learned the basics of typing while I was still in high school-- my parents were pretty insistent on it. But I didn't really learn to touch-type until my freshman year of college, when my roommate and I had pretty much opposite schedule. Nothing forces you to learn the keyboard like having to type Lit papers with the lights out.

Oh, that must have been fun.

I'm finding that if I focus on touch-typing, it's awful, but if I do things my way my fingers can find the keys without looking more often than I realize. Not the correct fingers on the correct keys, but still.
