Live 8 was (is) extraordinary! At one point, the viewing figures globally were 5 billion. If that is accurate, it means that five out of every six people in the entire world saw Live 8. Five out of six people in the world!

Hate to spoil it for you, but someone just told me that the bands got paid!? I mean, that's twisted.

I agree that the crisis in Africa is huge, but the fact that a lot of people are joining in simply because it's popular is twisted imo. Once there's a new fad, those children will get cast aside and the world leaders can sigh a sigh of relief that everyone lost interest before they actually had to do anything.

Why does the 1st world population has the attention span of a toddler? It's pathetic.

Sorry, that was a bit bitter. But people only seem to give money/time when everyone else is. Not you, but a lot of people.

The bands at Live 8 were not paid.

As for people's motivations, the entire purpose of Live 8 is to spread the word of the plight of Africa.

I don't believe that most people don't care about Africa. Many will not do anything after Live 8, but fuck those people.
Me and you have the chance to do something wonderous.
