I only vaguely remember life under Hawke and Keating. I know things were tough for most people but Keating spoke of the Republic and Reconciliation and, as far as I could tell, wasn't afraid to call it how he saw it. After reading Ozonomics, I more fully realise that Keating was responsible for the good times we have today: sixteen years of low-inflation growth. Howard will be responsible for what goes wrong in Rudd's term; there'll be another interest rate rise soon, mortgages will be defaulted on, the price of petrol will go through the roof, food will become even more expensive, etc. The challenge for Rudd is to point the finger at those responsible without appearing to be dodging responsiblity; that, and he has to outline what he's going to do to fix it.
