Perhaps it is silly to suggest movies that were nominanted in recent years for multiple Acadamy Awards, but if you haven't seen "The Constant Gardener" you are really missing something. Not something entirely pleasant- but something significant in many ways. I'll leave it at that

Nothing to really add, but something I think shadows what you're saying rather closely, from a conversation I had today:

I'd long since forgotten Crowley's words on Atmadarshana. And I'd forgotten something a previous employer used to say to me when things were less than we'd hoped in any given situation, "It is what it is."
