Summer Camp of the Apocalypse

Jul 17, 2006 18:57

The 100 degree heat has forced me to camp out in my basement this afternoon to get any kind of work done, again very grateful for the laptop, as the ground floor and the second floor are uninhabitable. I already went swimming and our local pond is now like a bathtub so thats no good. My neighbor has AC but I couldnt get my wireless signal, I dont ( Read more... )

Volcanic weirdness everywhere, results in shifting concentration of iron in the core, results in depolarization of magnetic field, results in atmosphere being vulnerable to ions in the solar wind, results in having the atmosphere stripped away like what happened on Mars, results in anaerobic life forms inside rocks inheriting the Earth.

The last time the poles shifted on Earth all the continents started burning and flying into each other at high speeds, I personally am looking forward to it.

Another Indian ocean/Sumatran offshore earthquake today anyway. That silly Pan-pacific Elder God is still waking up down there. I'm not really looking forward to being expected to worship him in the ruins of civilization, but I'm pretty sure the Devas will eventually save whats left of us by then.

The good news of course is that in the later movies, they show you straight up that time travelling fighter pilots appear flying giant mechanical Godzillas around and we get saved from all citizens of Monster Island thanks to teamwork and lasers and shiny uniforms, just like at my old job.

Not that it helps with the pollution of course.

I may or may not be moving away from major population centers in a month or two, the smartest thing I will have done in awhile if it actually happens. I can't wait to come back and seize power after all this stuff blows over.

Try living on the 3rd floor. x_x

We could get off our "oil addiction" right now if we wanted to; there's just too much money in it. It's the same reason the tobacco companies are still in business.

It would be nice though, if, when all this shit finally comes to a head all the idiot war mongers who are responsible for the destruction of the planet to be wiped out and all the rest of us who actually care and tried to do something to stop it would be spared. I agree though, I guess we deserve it.

Heya Snarkly. Yeah, Oil - technically it IS money, because the world trades oil in dollars. And technically the whole human race is complicit not just the warmongers, everyone whos driven a car in the last 50 years, since its more or less atmospheric carbon buildup which is trapping the heat and altering the weather.

Since I wrote this Ive read more, and it seems to me that one way or another, alternatives like electric cars, solar power, biodiesel and not to mention overunity devices will HAVE to be used sooner or later, when this world is a Planet of Storms and gas is $15 a gallon, we will be forced to anyway. The longer we wait the harder it gets.

As the rain has fallen on the just and the unjust, so too the global warming will affect the deserving and the undeserving...
