.the myth;

» God(dess): Aergia

» Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aergia , http://www.theoi.com/Daimon/Aergia.html

» Family: {mother & father} Gaia & Aether ; {spouse} None; {Children} None

» Played By: Scarlett Johansson.

» Human Alias: Loth Nichts.

» Human Age: 24

» God of...: Laziness, indolence and sloth.

» Flair: As a proud "partner of sorts" of Hypnos, people around Aergia just want to relax and have a good time doing nothing. The more someone stays around her, the less they want to do anything at all -and therefore the more difficult they get away, actually-, until they finally fall asleep, if they hadn't decided to sleep already, that is; she's not the kind of person you want to be around if you want to do, well anything; she's capable of lifting the effect on bona fide gods and mortals consciously, but one will probably need to ask for it instead of expecting her to do something; she's also capable of enhancing the effect, but this only seems to affect mortals.

» Flair Type: ACTIVATED/CONTINUOUS

» Fitting in: Currently unemployed. Hypnos lapdog.

»History: Just as one would expect from the goddess of sloth and laziness, Aergia doesn't carry much backstory with her; she was the one guarding Hypno's palace in the Underworld, and she spend most of her time, if not all, inside there, pretty much as a sleepy (or sleeping) watchdog of sorts.

» Weakness:

Lazy bum: Aergia is always sleepy; note that it says sleepy, not tired, although she would usually claim that she is, indeed, tired, but that's only an excuse to do what she likes best; nothing at all. She can be forced into activity, right, but one has to either be her superior or someone with a very good excuse to bother her. If not, Aergia is capable of staying in bed for days before considering doing anything on her own, and then she acts slowly and probably stopping every five minutes to yawn and complain of how could it be that someone else isn't doing whatever she is, even if it's something like cutting her own nails; she does have initiative, and can actually come with very creative ideas...as long as someone else is executing them. Don't call Aergia to save you if you are hanging from a rope and need someone to pick you up, or to go for a run, walk, or anything that might force her to put some effort beyond the bare minimum if you don't think you can go through that thick skin of hers.

The Boss is the Boss: If you are remotely superior to her in the structure of Hell, then you can be pretty sure she will at least pay you attention and don't fall asleep halfway the conversation; if you are Hypnos or Hades, congrats, you have your own dedicated -albeit sleepy- secretary/errands girl/lap dog/whatever you want. Things are that way easier for her; obey the boss, sleep when not obeying the boss. People from Above will have a hard time getting her into action at all, while those of the Underground might at least expect her to answer back with interest; she has very clear who she obeys though.

» Personality:

Lazy, lazy, lazy.

Aergia prefers to avoid acting when she has a choice, and put up excuses when she doesn't. And then pout and pretend she is deaf when everything else fails. She can be quite childish, placing her desire to sleep before anything and anyone. If she could stay her entire existence in a comfy bed with people feeding her, then she would certainly do it. Spoiled for her former existence, Aergia needs a serious reality check; being mortal also messes with her idea of not doing things if she can, and finds irritated she indeed needs to shower, eat, and change clothes, like, every day. She is pretty much a baby when it comes to take care of herself, first because of being apparently impossible to hurt her at all, and also due to the need of someone else to force her into having a life of sorts. The only effective way to put her to act, as stated before, is having a superior bossing her around, which she can't fight, and don't want to fight, to begin with; her life is easier with a minimum set of rules anyway.

Time will ultimately push Aergia out of her laziness and force her to interact with others more openly. She is rather naive when it's about other's feelings and ideas, and has a long way to stop considering herself the center of the universe; she has a very thick skin, and that's not only in the practical sense of the word; she couldn't care less of people talking about her body, which she considers to be "a temporal ride", and certainly makes little effort to keep her delicate and attractive physic, for the wrath of the rest of the women struggling to keep their weights, something she ironically doesn't care about; she won't make deaf ears to a compliment though, although it would be naive to expect anything in return. People in a general sense don't annoy her; they are there and she's fine with that, but anything they do that could interrupt her peaceful nothingness is usually seen as an insult. And even then, she is arguably sociable after having a good power nap.

Her views of Hypnos is simple; she belongs to him, mostly because she was down there in his palace of sorts all the time, and her area of influence ultimately brings him into coalition, and also because that makes her life easier. She doesn't really love Hypnos, but at the same time feels ridiculously attracted to him in many ways. Just sleeping in the same bed he is would be enough for her to be happy; not that she wouldn't mind going further, but she would be the first to point that there is no romance on her side, nor any intent to replace her wife. She's happy if she's around him, and even happier if he orders her around. Hence why Aergia doesn't feel either jealous or left aside if Hypnos is surrounded by woman, or expresses his love for another one; she's just a possession, and doesn't even need to think much about that. She belongs to Hades by extension, since she lived in his realm, and he's a higher authority. She sees her siblings are equals, and she is more likely to seek them when she's actually in the mood to do something; Hypnos' children fall int this category, more or less. All her uncles and aunts are respected, but it works case-by-case here. Olympus? The mortals? Background noise -of the annoying type- unless she finds one amusing.

The less known fact about Aergia is that she's pretty smart, actually. She just doesn't really feel like proving it, and would usually prefer to come as simple minded just to go with the flow and do what's easier and less of a bother regarding her rest time. But once she decides to make something, you can be sure as hell she will do it perfectly. She is pretty old after all, and has had a lot of time to think about a number of subjects with all the detail she wanted. She only needs the proper motivation.

Did I mention she's the heaviest sleeper that has ever been born? Only second to Hypnos, and they could probably make one hell of a sleeping contest.

» Sample Journal:

[Voice]

[The sound of sheets and muffled complaints can be heard as Aergia makes her way through the covers to reach the computer; her voice is, oh surprise, sleepy]

Five more minutes; five more minutes and I'll figure out what's going on here.

[A yawn is clearly heard]

...Scratch that, I don't care. Good night, or day, or whatever.
[/Voice]

...Lord Hypnos?

» Sample Roleplay:

The bus stopped some blocks away from the mall, and Aergia stepped down, looking as if she had walked all the way to the mall instead of taking a ride. The distance between her and the mall was short, but she was already regretting even considering going to do some shopping. While she did like pretty clothes, it mattered little when you weren't even conscious, so what was she supposed to buy, pajamas? That was offensive, really. She should've send someone else to do it, but then she would still be bored. "Should have taken someone with me", muttered as she tried to avoid yawning for the hundredth time; she had almost fallen asleep on the bus, and keeping herself awake for the sake of not missing the stupid mall was honestly tiring and annoying. Aergia was so focused on her inner complaints she didn't notice the mall until she almost knock a woman down when she ran into her, which nearly takes her to the ground with her. All the woman got was a mildly annoyed glance and a displeased hum. She couldn't possibly expect her to help her, right?.

Ignoring the woman, the lazy goddess made her way into a shop with particularly flashy colors; even if she didn't buy anything there, it was harder to fall asleep with all those epilepsy inducing tones bothering her. She ended up grabbing a couple of tops with colorful designs, which were rather pretty, alright. She had some money Hypnos has given her to spend, so she made her first buy ever and then left the place, interest certainly higher than before. She didn't look the next place she entered -she wasn't in a hurry anyway- and was rather surprised to find not clothes, but machines, all white and metallic. Her surprise turned into annoyance when she realized there were people in some of them, running and sweating and...well, she was feeling tired again of just watching. And suddenly the whole mall got a lot less interesting, and the idea to return home became quite imperious, because honestly, she had her clothes, what else?

Exiting the gym, Aergia gave the mall one last chance. She walked for a few minutes, sleepiness fading slowly -she had slept quite a bit beforehand, so this didn't come as a surprise for her-, and entered another shop with flashy colors. There she found swimsuits, of all the sizes and colors. The idea of wearing the same as underwear, but thinner and in public without the apparent social frowning that caused the underwear itself was slightly amusing. So she bought a bikini. She had to try it on, actually -the girl in the counter was giving her some seriously bad stares when she watched herself in the mirror, complaining of how it pressed her chest- and finally bought a couple of them. She was in a good mood now. Exiting the mall -because Hypnos had also mentioned something about saving money for later occasions-, Aergia sat on the bus stop bench, wondering how good of an idea would be to sleep for some hours and take a bus at night. Maybe not a good idea. Getting a sit on the back row, she closed her eyes. It was a long ride home, so she could maybe take a nap.

And if she woke up in Mexico, she at least had something to wear on the beach.
