Title: For You, Baby!
Pairing: Kaisoo
Rating: G
Word Count: 2,904
Summary: First date feels.

Great things come to those who wait, they say, and Kyungsoo believed it. After mustering all his will and strength to dodge his boyfriend’s advances on him, he finally found himself walking side by side with Jongin along the quiet streets of the neighbourhood, making their way to the famous Han River, where Jongin intended to replace memories of the morning. It was a chilly evening, since the winter breeze has come to the city.

Kyungsoo, feeling giddy over his date with Jongin expected a whole lot from the other. Besides, it’s the first time they’re going out, and he can’t help but be excited for the night. He was excited over the fact that Jongin’s focus will be on him alone, and he’s excited to see how he actually is as boyfriend. He used to date a stuck up but extremely rich nerd back in university, and Jongin was somehow the complete opposite, and that’s why he’s looking forward to their date. How fun could Jongin be without his kids?

Little did Kyungsoo know that Jongin had something else in mind, and it was about to further surprise the older, because deep inside, he’s a father - and a parent never EVER stop worrying about his kids when they’re left at home alone.

The couple was walking side by side, about to cross the street to the park, where a street food tent has already been set up by a famous ahjumma, talking about Jongin’s side project for a local agency in which he would be a choreographer for a play Baekhyun would be vocal coach for.

“Let’s go eat and then go somewhere else, okay?” Jongin mutters as he takes his boyfriend’s hand on his own, leading him to the food stall he always visits.

They enter the street restaurant, with Jongin pulling the plastic the serves as the place’s entrance and let Kyungsoo come inside first. He greeted the ahjumma, who obviously have known Jongin for his countless visits.

“Oh, hi, handsome boy. You brought a friend today! Where are your cute kids? I haven’t seen them for a while.” The lady greets; hands busy stirring the tukkbokki over the stove.

“Ah, this is my boyfriend, Ahjumma, and the kids are home. I’ve been busy that’s why we can’t visit you often.” Jongin replies, walking closer to the lady’s booth, eyeing the mouth-watering street food that’s waiting to be ordered.

Kyungsoo flushed at Jongin’s unnecessary introduction, but bowed his head anyway to greet the old lady. The ahjumma just looked at him and smiled, saying a few words. “It’s not usual that he leaves the kids at home. You must be very special.”

“Ahjumma, you’re making me shy.” Kyungsoo mutters.

“Well, it’s true! It’s the first in the hundred days of this boy’s visit that he didn’t come with the three.”

Kyungsoo was obviously flattered, and looked up to Jongin to confirm the old lady’s remark. Was he really that special to Jongin?

“I promised him a date, Ahjumma. You know my kids love you. I would bring them if I can.” Jongin suddenly mutters. The smile on Kyungsoo lips faded, disappointed by the inconsiderate reaction from his boyfriend. “But yup, he’s special.”

“The damage’s been done, Jongin. It’s okay. You should’ve just brought the ki-

“Now, now, you two. Fighting over food is bad for you and my business. Make-up and eat, alright? Sit down and I’ll go ready something good for you two.”

Kyungsoo stomps his feet as he walk to the nearest chair and sat down, pressing an elbow against the table, his chin resting on his fist, eyes far from looking at his boyfriend. Jongin eyes him, confused of the sudden action.

“Did I say something wrong?” He dumbly asks. Kyungsoo huffs at this, mentally face-palming himself.

“Are we here because of the promise you made? Don’t do things you feel you’re obliged to do, Jongin. If you’re doing this out of obligation, let’s just go home. Now I feel that you’d rather spend the night here with your kids. You’d be happier.”

“Don’t take it like that, Soo. It’s just the first time for me, so please understand if I miss them. I never was in a relationship since I had the kids, so they’re my other half, and now that’s you. It takes time to you know, adjust.” Jongin explains. He extends a hand to cover the older, who seem to take Jongin’s side in understanding, as he finally looks at his boyfriend. He’ll try to understand, he promised himself. He’ll enjoy the date, no matter what.

After their simple meal of fried vegetables and some spicy ttukbokki, the two went on to grab a cab to go to a nearby shopping district. The night gets deeper and the temperature drops to almost a negative, and the couple can’t help but shiver in the cold. As soon as they step out the cab and watch the flickering light streets of Myeongdong, the couple instinctively held hands, sharing heat. Jongin loved the skinship, and Kyungsoo enjoyed the company.

“So what do you want us to?” Jongin asks, leading the way to the crowded streets, walking slowly as to enjoy the view of endless lines of boutiques and shops.

“I don’t know. You know I have no source of income right now. I have no money to buy anything.” Kyungsoo deadpans, remembering his financial situation. He wanted a job, but the self-proclaimed father and provider said no.

Without saying anything back, Jongin leads him along the streets Myeongdong, but never going inside the shops. He seems to be looking for a specific shop actually, one that Kyungsoo has on the last of his list, or probably one that he didn’t expect at all.

They arrive in front an enormous SPAO branch, a brand that Kyungsoo is dying to have a shirt from (because his favourite artist D.O. endorses the brand). Kyungsoo was preparing a speech to convince Jongin to buy him a hundred thousand won worth of black shirt, and was preparing his aegyo just in case his boyfriend wasn’t convinced enough.

“Let’s go.” Jongin mutters, looking down to the older. Kyungsoo furiously nods his head and snakes both his arms around the younger’s arm. Excitingly, they walk forward, with Kyungsoo staring directly at the shop right in front of him, only to be swayed a little to the right, pulled by Jongin to the shop BESIDE SPAO. Kyungsoo realizes it when he finally saw the sign of the shop beside the glass walls of SPAO, with a beaming LED banner in front with “SPaw” written on it.

Seriously? Kyungsoo thought. That’s the most stupid pun ever.

“Come on. I’m dying to buy Jjangah a new dress for a party she’ll attend to. She has to be the prettiest!” Jongin mutters, finally sliding the door open and heading into the rather small shop for pet stuff. Kyungsoo was internally groaning, frustrated.

Defeated, he looks around, finding a lot of cute stuff for their kids, and though he admits he’s disappointed at Jongin, his maternal instincts for the little kids back at home are calling onto him. So, he looks around to find the perfect dress for the princess and actually finds an odd looking costume in one of the racks. It was wrapped in plastic, but there was a photo outside, a sample of how it looks when worn. It was a costume meant to be worn just in the front part of the dogs’ body. It was a sparkly silver hoodie that can be worn over the head, the sparkly thing going down just below the dog’s neck. Below it is a white cloth, where a red shorts is attached, where the legs go in. There’s also a matching pair of silver shoes that goes with it.

“Look at this, Jongin.” Kyungsoo mutters, pulling the package from the shelf and handing it to his boyfriend who had a simple pink dress in his hands. Jongin chuckles as he sees the photo outside. “This is cute. Should we buy this one? It has HyunA feels all over it.”

Kyungsoo smiles and nods, loving how Jongin appreciates his taste in fashion. His choice was better anyway.

Jongin quickly pays for the Jjangah’s costume and heads out with Kyungsoo, who was still smiling. Suddenly, Jongin stops and turns to look at the older.

“Should we buy something for the two boys, too? I bet they’d love it if they can wear matching outfits! Our kids would be excited to wear them!” Jongin exclaims.

“Yeah, I think so, too.” Kyungsoo shivers in the cold. The temperature was dropping rapidly, and though he’s used to the cold, a negative can always be deadly. Jongin noticed the flush on Kyungsoo’s cheeks and instinctively pressed his hands on both cheeks of the elder.

“You okay? Should we head home? It’s getting too cold.” Jongin muttered, eyeing the shop and Kyungsoo back and forth. Kyungsoo quickly shook his head, pulling down Jongin’s hand as there were people who were already looking at them.

“I think we should get the boys something to match Jjangah’s, first. I’m fine, Jongin.” He said with a smile, taking Jongin by the arm and pulling him back to the shop.

After a good thirty minutes of looking around, they settled with superhero suits for the two, and they went out laughing, imagining what the two would like with their matching Batman and Robin suits, complete with capes and boots.

His SPAO shirt completely forgotten, Kyungsoo held onto Jongin as they continue walking around the streets of Myeongdeong. The crowd was starting to grow and the streets were being filled by people of different lives. Children were walking hand in hand with their parents, lovers were playing on some booths, and the vendors were busy calling onto potential buyers.

“Oh, look!” Jongin suddenly beamed, pointing at an accessory shop. He pulled Kyungsoo gently against the crowd, and finally, they were in front the store, greeted by a young lady.

“Oh, hi, Jongin.” The lady smiled sweetly, which Kyungsoo noticed. They must know each other, huh. Kyungsoo thought.

“Seulgi, hello.” Jongin greeted back, though not looking at the girl. He was already looking at the rows of leather bracelets and necklaces that hung on the walls. Kyungsoo was following behind, taking his own time to look around, too.

“Here, Soo, look at this.” Jongin squealed, whipping his head around to search for the elder. From afar, Kyungsoo saw the bracelet Jongin was holding and was totally sold on it. It looked pretty, very complimenting to Jongin’s skin if he would wear it. Finding Kyungsoo, Jongin waved another bracelet that had Kyungsoo blushing. It was a white one, almost identical to the one Jongin lifted up earlier.

“As cheesy as that, that’s one cute pair for couple bracelets.” Kyungsoo murmured to himself as he joined Jongin. Seulgi was following Jongin around that Kyungsoo had to squeeze himself in between the two to check the bracelets the younger was holding.

“New collars for the boys.” Jongin smiled as he handed the now pouting Kyungsoo.

“Yeah, yeah.” Kyungsoo murmured. “For the kids.”

“What?” Jongin asked, confused.

“Nothing.”

“You don’t like the colors?” Jongin muttered, searching again for another design. Stupid. Kyungsoo thought. Kids, kids, kids, you just follow me everywhere, huh.

“What are you thinking? You don’t seem to like the collars.” It was Jongin’s time to pout.

Kyungsoo sighed. “No, I like them. I just wasn’t expecting that they’ll be for the three poodles at home.”

“Well, I can get something for you, if you want.” The younger shrugged, although there was a subtle smile on his lips.

Kyungsoo rolled his eyes. “No, thanks. Just pick what you want and let’s head out. I’m freezing.”

“Okay, Soo. Let’s get coffee after and then we’ll head home. I have a gut feeling somebody’s ripping the shoes I accidentally left in the foyer.” Jongin muttered as he took the collars from Kyungsoo’s hand and gave it to Seulgi. “I’m getting them. Wrap ‘em up, Seulgi. Thanks.” He winked.

Kyungsoo stared at him for a good three minutes after he saw Jongin obviously winked at the girl. It infuriated him more, finding it ridiculous for Jongin to flirt just like that in front him.

Sighing, he crosses his arms and thought to himself the many ways how he’ll deprive Jongin of the best things he can offer. One of that would be a complete neglecting to the younger’s sexual advances that he expected to continue once they got home. I wasn’t looking for it, I swear. He thought. Yeah, right, Soo.

Jongin took his hand and woke him up from his internal debate, and was taken to a small cafe at the main street. “What’s bugging you?” Jongin asked as he lined up for the cashier.

Kyungsoo puffed at this disappointed. Stupid. Insensitive. What kind of boyfriend are you, Kim Jongin? “Nothing. I’m just freezing.”

“You don’t look like freezing. You’re intentionally walking way too far from me, like right now; you’re two steps away from me.” Jongin said as he pulled Kyungsoo closer who immediately stepped back.

“I just want to go home, Jongin.” Kyungsoo frowned. There’s no hope to save this date at all. He thought.

“Okay. Let me just get something.”

Kyungsoo chuckled, although sarcastic. “What? Coffee for the kids?”

Jongin stared at him wide-eyed, but decided to not reply. After the cashier took his order, the two waited in silence.

The ride home turned awkward. Arriving home was even more awkward when Kyungsoo went straight to their room without even looking at the three kids who were wagging their tails excitedly as the two came in the house.

“Okay, now you tell me what’s wrong, Soo.” Jongin said as he closed the door behind him to their room. Kyungsoo was already curled below the covers of their bed, awake and still disappointed. He heard the three making whining noises just outside, and also the subtle steps Jongin was making as he walked to him.

“Soo, talk to me.” Jongin mumbled, sitting on his side of the bed.

“It’s nothing.” Kyungsoo murmured.

“If you won’t tell me, then I’m sorry. I know you’re disappointed at me.” Jongin muttered. “At least say hi to the three. They were excited to see you.”

Jongin quickly stood up once again, heading to the bathroom. Kyungsoo wondered what Jongin was thinking. After all that happened that night, the whole day even, greet the kids? He thought. Sighing, he push the covers away from his body as he half-heartedly planted his feet to the floor and stood. He walked slowly and headed out the room, finding the two male poodles sitting just feet away from the door.

Monggu was first to bark, followed by Jjanggu. Kyungsoo noticed the new collars on the two’s neck. He thought it was beautiful, and it matched each other. It was obvious that they were siblings. Kyungsoo sighed again, pushing the thoughts of his frustration from Jongin to the back of his mind and greet his kids properly. He crouched down, and the two happily jumped to him, taking turns to licking his face vigorously.

“Relax, kids. I’m not mad at you, okay?” He muttered as he petted the two’s curly fur. “Now, where’s Jongin’s princess?” He asked himself. Suddenly, Jjanggah appears with her new collar in her new HyunA costume. Kyungsoo can’t help but laugh at the cuteness. “Cute! Good thing you three can make me smile.” He said as he extended a hand to Jjangah who happily scrubbed his face to her omma’s palm. “I wish your appa is as sweet as you three.”

“Soo.” Jongin was suddenly behind him, taking the older by surprise. “Here.” Jongin handed him a box, as big as his palm, as he sat down, too, on the carpet.

“What’s this?” Kyungsoo asked.

“Just look inside.”

Kyungsoo shrugged, but obeyed anyway. He opened the box, finding two metals, one silver, the other gold, matching bracelets. He swore he saw it at the store where they bought the collars, but he didn’t see Jongin looking at it at all.

“Sorry if I was all about the kids, earlier. I know it was supposed to be our date, but I’m still new to all this, you that right? I kind of suck with dates so I knew it’ll be a disaster. The kids were our only common ground so I thought it’ll be fun to let us both decide on what to get them. I’ll do better next time, I guess.” Jongin muttered.

“You suck.” Kyungsoo murmured under his breath, but was obviously moved by Jongin’s apology. “But I guess, it’s okay.”

“I’ll make it up to you.” The younger promised.

“So when did you get this?” Kyungsoo asked, remembering the box in his hand.

“Seulgi is actually a family friend, and I usually buy collars from their shop. She teases me most of the time I visit there that I’m always buying for the kids. She told me I should go date and be a good husband before being a father. Something like that. So I told her once, I’ll buy a pair of bracelets when I find the right one. And you were the right one.”

“I think I forgot why I was mad at you. That’s just... sweet”

Jongin chuckled, “Only for you, baby.”
