Title: I’m Here, Baby!
Pairing: Kaisoo
Rating: G
Word Count: 8,182
Summary: Boredom strikes!

It might or might not be one of the biggest steps Jongin took to level up their relationship, according to Kyungsoo. On the day of what supposed to be Monggu’s birthday, Jongin officially handed his passbooks to his boyfriend. Of course, Kyungsoo was terrified. Getting paid for being the guy’s boyfriend is one thing though he has long convinced himself that Jongin was paying him for babysitting his kids, but taking care of the household’s budget was so wife-ish for him to do as early as a year and half into his and Jongin’s relationship.

“Are you sure? Like really, really, really, really sure about this?” Kyungsoo asked hesitantly, holding the three booklets at the tip of his fingers, as if they were soiled in their kids pee.

“I am. Why are you holding it like that, Soo? You might drop it and crinkle the pages.” The younger murmured, arms crossed on his chest.

“Are you really sure Jongin? What if I took all your money and ran away with your kids? What if I meet someone who looks exactly like you and fall in love with him and I don’t know, get stupid and cruel and take all your money? What if I spend all your money on some useless shit or what if I gam-

“Will you?” Jongin replied sternly, brow arched in a challenge. He knew Kyungsoo wasn’t the cheating type. The sudden shilly-shallying of his boyfriend was wearing him off. He has to go to work in an hour to prepare for the upcoming semester, and there he was in his room, watching his boyfriend shuffle in his feet, walking back and forth, with their two boys following behind him. It was cute, if not for Kyungsoo prancing in front their dresser, while Jongin was drenched from the shower with only his towel covering him and his princess practically doing everything to reach the towel and nip at its ends. If only Kyungsoo would take the back and forth walking and tensing over a simple matter of handling money for the household somewhere else, there might be some more time for the dance instructor to eat his breakfast, which of course, Kyungsoo has long forgotten to prepare since they woke up.

Jongin immediately regretted putting his passbooks on their bedside table the night before, and much regretted telling Kyungsoo the moment they woke up that he wanted his boyfriend to take over their finances. Kyungsoo was frantic ever since, as if he had a phobia of money.

“Soo, I have to go to work in an hour.” He said rolling his eyes. “Let’s settle this later, but for now, relax, and forget about me asking you to do this. God, I didn’t know you’re so afraid of money.” He shrugged.

Kyungsoo immediately stopped, and his shoulder seemed to loosen, and Jongin noticed the heart shaped lips frowning. “I’m sorry.” Kyungsoo whispered, disheartened. He takes a firm grip on the passbooks, before placing them on the first drawer of the dressers and heading out their room. Jongin, taking the opportunity, quickly fetched clothes and dressed himself before running out to Kyungsoo who was probably sulking already. Jongin can only hope he didn’t leave the house.

He found his boyfriend with his back on him working on the counters, throwing some buttered bread to their toaster, while mixing eggs with his other hand. Knowing he might have offended his boyfriend, Jongin walks to him (while going around the other side since Jjangah was already looking at him with cat-like eyes, waiting for her bacon jerky), and slowly circled his arms around Kyungsoo’s waist.

“Hey, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to sound mad or rude. I’m just not used to you being so uneasy.” He murmured, resting his chin onto the other’s neck. Kyungsoo released a sigh, taking the batted eggs and throwing them to the pan.

“It’s fine. I understand. It’s my fault anyway. I just- It’s just too big for me, Jongin.” Kyungsoo replied softly.

“Too big, huh.” Jongin muttered nonchalantly, of course, reading another meaning from the remark.

“You’re such a perv.” Kyungsoo elbowed him. At least, Jongin thought, he succeeded in pulling out a smile from the worried Kyungsoo.

“It’s too much, okay? I’m your boyfriend, I live here and I take care of the kids. That’s pretty much it. You’re the head of the house. You should handle the money, not me.” Kyungsoo started flipping the egg, but eventually ruining it, so he stirred it and made scrambled eggs instead of eggrolls.

“Why is it such a big deal to you if I want to hand the finance to you? I work, you buy what we need in the house. You buy food to stock in the fridge, pay the bills and all that. You can treat yourself to coffee if you want to. The three kids have a different account since my parents and sisters are giving their share in taking care of them. What’s the big deal?” Jongin muttered, taking the now warmed bread from the toaster and popping it onto his mouth.

“You trust me that much to do all that?” Kyungsoo asked softly, turning off the stove and turning around to meet his boyfriend’s embrace.

“I trust you enough. Besides, preparing a budget is the mom’s job, right? Daddy works, mommy handles the mo-.” Jongin winked.

“That sounds so dirty to me.” Baekhyun interrupted suddenly, face scrunched as if disgusted. The two pull away from each other, looking at the intruder, glaring actually. “Uh, you haven’t changed the passcode of your digital lock so I helped myself in. What are you two so stressed about?” Baekhyun asked as he takes a seat on the dining table.

“I’ll leave you two to talk. I need to go to work, unlike you-“ pointing at Baekhyun, “whose work starts on the first day of the semester. I, on the other hand, need to finish the first four routines even before the class starts. God, Sehun is so lacklustre these days. He must’ve loved the break so much.”

“Or he’s just dating this new Chinese guy named Luhan, who, the last time I checked, is the university soccer team’s coach. His office is in the farthest building from ours. Sehun must feel soooo sad.” Baekhyun spilled.

“You’re so nosy, Baek.” Jongin shook his head, but smiling anyway, discovering something he might use against his co-instructor in the future.

“Oh I know that look, Jongin.” Baekhyun chuckled. “Go get your ass in the Uni already and blackmail Sehun.”

“Yeah, probably I will.” Jongin laughed. “See you later, baby, but don’t wait up if I come home late.” Jongin rubbed Kyungsoo’s arm before kissing his cheek.

“’kay. Bye.” Kyungsoo whispered, finally letting go of Jongin, walking him to their front door and giving him one last kiss.

After their own breakfast, Kyungsoo prepared the kids’ as well. He and Baekhyun carried their conversation about Chanyeol to the living room, sitting on the opposite ends of the couch as the three kids sat in between them.

“So, yeah, he said he likes me and all, and formally asked me to be his boyfriend.” Baekhyun told his story, though Kyungsoo might have heard it many times, as the two normally breaks up in a month and Chanyeol would go luring the other back and asking again to be his boyfriend.

“Okay? So you’re back together, right?” Kyungoo shrugged.

“Sort of. But anyway, I didn’t forget about this morning. What were you two so stressed about earlier?” Baekhyun asked, folding his legs under him, taking Monggu who reluctantly settled himself on the male’s lap.

“Well, Jongin decided to hand me his passbooks, and gave me access to all his accounts. He wants me to prepare the budget for the household.” Kyungsoo explains, rubbing Jjanggu’s tummy.

“So basically, he’s giving all his hard earned money to you. That’s sweet. You’re okay at handling money, why are you so stressed about it?”

Kyungsoo made a worried face and scratched his head. “Baek, that’s like being a wife to someone. I can’t just take the responsibility. Give me an allowance for a week, I’ll make it last, but bank accounts? I swear I can’t handle all that. I might leave the grocery store with nothing left in the card because I was so carried away. I don’t even have a job and I’m, what, spending all his money?”

“You know, I heard from a friend about a finance consultant in the chocolate shop two blocks from here. Maybe you want some confirmation that you can do this. I might need it, too, because if Chanyeol one day gives me access to his accounts, I’d probably buy a whole lot of clothes.” The other suggested, typing on his phone.

After a few moments, he stretched his hand and showed the photo on the screen.

“Choco Bank.” Kyungsoo read. “Financial consultation in a cafe? That’s new.”

“Exactly. I’ll send you the address so go, okay? I think you just need to clear your head up a little to realize it’s no big deal.” Baekhyun shrugged as he pulled back his arm. “Seriously, I don’t know why you’re so stressed about it.”

“You don’t get it, Baek. Did you know my bank account was set up by my brother? I’ve never been in a bank.” Kyungsoo muttered hysterically. His friend finally let out a laugh.

“So go to Choco Bank!”

For the tenth time that morning, Kyungsoo was hesitating to actually follow his friend’s advice given that for the most number of times he listened, he ended up worried sick or felling just plain stupid. After the incident of losing the three kids during their first ever walk as omma and kids, Kyungsoo always had the inkling of Baekhyun being a bad omen to whatever he’s suggesting.

But of course, given the problem at hand, he really needed the push. Maybe this Choco Bank can ease the doubts in his mind and probably encourage him that money, his boyfriend’s money rather, is not much of worry.

Lunch came and Baekhyun was finally out of their home with Kyungsoo thinking that the guy just came to leech off food from his fridge. He was sure Baek took the last slice of the cake Jongin brought the night to celebrate Monggu’s birthday.

He finished washing the dishes and once again went back to their room, anxiously pulling open the drawer where he put all of Jongin’s passbooks. Taking a deep breath, he opened one of the booklets, and of course, there was a bright green post-it on the first page.

“Typical Jongin.” Kyungsoo rolled his eyes, but read the note anyway. “Kids’ savings.” was written, along with the account number and its pin. The one in the second booklet read “Kim’s savings” along with a card, brand new, obviously, with Kyungsoo’s name written on it.

“Oh my God.” Kyungsoo murmured to himself. Jongin just gave him like real complete access to the account. He looked at the card thoroughly, before opening the third booklet.

A red note was stuck in the front page, “Just in case you want to leave me and all that shit, this is my savings for the engagement ring and the expensive wedding I’m gonna prepare just for you in the near future. Okay, your eyes are falling out of their sockets already. This is my payroll account. My salary is wired here. HAHAHA Gotcha! XO”

It took Kyungsoo about three times to reread the note before his heart started to beat again.

Now he’s desperate. Kyungsoo cleaned up after his kids’ little litters here and there before taking a quick shower and dressing himself up. Baekhyun had texted him the address, yes the mapped one, to him so he can visit the place without going in circles in the neighbourhood.

When he went out the room, Monggu and Jjangu was sleeping rather soundly in their little beds, paws up in the air. Kyungsoo knew his two boys were in deep sleep already, deciding it would be best to let them rest. Jjangah though, was rolling around the couch, nipping on her plush toy, enjoying her free time away from her ever playful hyungs.

Slowly, Kyungsoo took the Jjangah’s leash from behind the door of the kids’ room, and quietly put in on her. He decided to leave the two in their sleep, and just take Jjangah with him for now.

It was almost summer time in Seoul. The wind is a little prickly, and the sun was up high, heating up his face just enough. Kyungsoo walked leisurely with Jjangah on his arms, and following the direction his friend gave him. A few blocks from home, he found Choco Bank in a small corner, almost hidden from the street.

He jogged up the small stairs and clicked on the automatic door, walking in as it slid open.

“Good afternoon! Welcome!” A lady in a white shirt and jeans greeted him. He found her immediately looking at Jjangah.

“Oh,” he exclaimed, “I hope it’s okay I brought her in.” Jjangah echoed a soft yelp, as if pleading herself. Kyungsoo noticed that the place was empty, but it felt cosy for him at least. Most cafes won’t let pets in, and it slipped his mind until the lady behind the cash register was eyeing up his princess.

“Yes, yes! It’s okay! Please come in!” The lady replied back happily. Kyungsoo went to the counter and eyed the treats displayed in glass beside it.

“Customer-nim, welcome to Choco Bank! I’m glad you found our place. What would you like to have?” The lady asked as she patted her hands onto her apron. Kyungsoo read the nametag that was pinned on it.

“Ha Choco?” He read.

“Oh, our got chocolate’s the best!” She replied, animatedly punching on the buttons of her register.

“No, no, no!” Kyungsoo frantically stopped her. “I was reading your name.” He explained.

“Oh.” The lady said blankly and then giggled. "My name is Malnyeon, customer-nim, and I was telling the truth when I said our hot chocolate is the best.”

Kyungsoo smiled back, finding the girl’s innocence amusing. “Okay, hot chocolate, then.”

“Cash or credit?” Malnyeon asked with a smile. Kyungsoo remembered his present problem and frowned..

“Uh, credit?” He mumbled, handing the card Jongin gave him. Malnyeon took it and swiped it on the device, and in no time gave it back to him. Kyungsoo turned his heel and took a seat near the window and looked outside. The street was as deserted as the cafe. It wasn’t really an ideal place to open one.

Jjangah was quietly sitting on the chair beside Kyungsoo and was falling asleep, too. By instinct, Kyungsoo petted her head, and the little princess finally shut her eyes. At the same time, Malnyeon came and placed the mug of hot chocolate on the table. She was about to walk away when Kyungsoo called her again. She looked back with wide eyes, waiting.

“Uhm.. Do you have your finance consultant here?” He bravely asked. Malnyeon’s eyes wavered a little.

“He’s not coming today or until the next three days, at least.” She replied. “I’ll set you an appointment if you want to.”

“Oh no, that would be a hassle for you. I can just come by and wait, maybe.” Kyungsoo shrugged.

“We used to hold events like that, but ever since he went back to work for Finance Bank, he’s rarely here.” She continued. Kyungsoo noticed the sadness in her eyes.

“Do you-“ Kyungsoo muttered hesitantly. “Do you want to talk about it? I can I don’t know, listen?”

A sudden flicker of joy and a soft smile appeared on her lips. She nodded excitingly and ran back to the counter, surprising Kyungsoo with a tray of plate full of chocolates and other snacks that she put on the table before sitting down in front him. Jjangah quickly sat up when sweet smell invaded her nose.

“Oh, dogs are allergic to chocolates, right? Here.” She said, placing a plate full of biscuits in front Jjangah. “It’s on me.” She winked.

Kyungsoo sipped his drink and was quite surprised. Malnyeon wasn’t lying about the drink. It was warm and sweet, but a kick of something else was present - just perfect.

“By the way,” he muttered. “My name is Kyungsoo and this is Jjangah. I live two blocks from here.”

“Nice to meet you.” She bowed. “I’m Malnyeon. I prepare all the treats here, and then my business partner and boyfriend Eunhaeng handles the finances. He’s the one who’s giving the consultations.”

They started talking about each other, with Malnyeon occasionally leaving him to attend other customers that came to the cafe. Kyungsoo learned about how she met his wonder of a boyfriend, and their epic push and pull love story. He had a good laugh when she talked about the guy who starred in the finance cf on television, that he used to be her admirer, and followed her down to Seoul to work for her.

It was almost evening when Kyungsoo left the cafe with a promise to come back the next morning, as Malnyeon ringed Eunhaeng to come for him. Malnyeon showed interest as well in Kyungsoo’s kids, excited to meet them sometime. She promised treats for them when they visit.

That evening, Jongin came back in his sweats, his bag clinging on his right shoulder, obviously exhausted for the day. He headed straight to the showers while Kyungsoo finished giving the three kids their dinner. He was already rubbing Jjangu’s belly when his boyfriend emerged from their room in a fresh pair of boxers.

“So, what’d you do when I was out? What time did Baekhyun leave?”Jongin murmured as he turned the television on and flopped down the couch.

“He left after lunch.” Kyungsoo murmured as he sat beside the other. “And then I brought Jjangah out and bought a drink.”

Jongin, actually, was still worried about their issue in the morning. He was restless the whole day, and was thinking of more ways to encourage his boyfriend to accept his request. Besides, it’s not like he’ll be leaving him. That’s what he thought, though the fact that Kyungsoo was blabbering about ‘what ifs’ that morning made him a little hesitant.

“Hey, about the bank accounts, you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to. I understand if you don’t want to do it.” Jongin muttered as he pulled the other into his arms.

“It’s not like that, Jongin.” Kyungsoo replied, settling himself, “It was just a big step for you, for us. Money is a deal breaker, you know. What if I made a mistake on budgeting and we end up foodless for the next two weeks? I can handle my finances well when I was alone since I lived a simple lifestyle... but this, Jongin, I’m handling yours, mine, and the kids’. I don’t want you getting mad because I can’t find your missing one hundred thousand won.”

“Gee. You’re fidgeting over that?” Jongin murmured.

“Of course. It’s not like you’re a rich kid with millions. Your money is hard earned.” Kyungsoo muttered back.

“But you’ll do it, right? Honestly speaking, I have lots of money that I don’t need. I live a simple lifestyle, too, Soo. My salary is more than enough for us. It’s better if you use it well than have it stuck in the account. You may actually want to look my account because I have lots of money. I’m not bragging though.”

“Okay, okay. I’m going to do what you want.” Soo sighed.

“Really?” Kyungsoo saw the million dollar smile on his boyfriend’s face. Oh, what he would do just to see that look. “That’s great.”

The next day, Kyungsoo found himself walking with Jjanggu that time to Choco Bank, while Jjangah and Monggu were left in the house. The cafe was once again deserted, and he found Malnyeon outside the cafe giving away free tastes to passerby.

Jjanggu sat on the pavement as his omma stood and greeted the lady.

“Hi!” Kyungsoo greeted. Malnyeon bowed in greeting and smiled back handing him a pack of chocolate cookies.

“You should try it. It’s a new recipe.” She said, continuing to give packets of treats to the people walking her way.

One lady stopped though and greeted Kyungsoo after saying thanks to Malnyeon. “Is he yours?” The lady excitingly asked, sitting on her shins as she extended a hand to Jjanggu. The poodle sniffed a few times before licking the lady’s finger.

“Yes!” Malnyeon exclaimed taking Kyungsoo by surprise.

“He’s really cute! Does he know any tricks?”

Kyungsoo was a bit hesitant. The lady asked Malnyeon for a biscuit and opened it, showing it to Jjanggu who already was wagging his tail in excitement. Kyungsoo shook his head in disbelief, but went with the lady’s request anyway.

Kyungsoo started singing Jjanggu’s song, and fortunately, Jjanggu sang along with his unique howls. It attracted a few more people as they continued to sing. Seeing the opportunity, Malnyeon clapped her hands and announced that the poodle and Kyungsoo will stay in the cafe ‘till late afternoon. Since Kyungsoo didn’t have anything to do anyway, he nodded his head and led the customers who were so impressed by his second child.

Malnyeon quickly cleaned up and brought her treats inside, one by one catering to the customers. Jjanggu was one happy kid, and a really full one, as a lot of customers gave him treats. The day ended without Eunhaeng still, but it was at least, fruitful. He said his goodbyes to Malnyeon, who gave him a box of freshly baked cookies as thanks to his favour of bringing customers in through Jjanggu.

After a tiring afternoon, Kyungsoo prepared the kids food immediately when he got home, and fixed Jongin’s dinner, and slept away the fatigue of singing the whole afternoon. He didn’t realize when Jongin came home tired himself, and didn’t wake up until Jongin was gone again in the morning.

The next day, Kyungsoo looked forward to going to Choco Bank again. It was better than boring himself in the house, so he decided to bring all three kids so Malnyeon can meet them all. He thought better to spend time with the kids outside than laze around at home and waste his time. Besides, he was still waiting for Malnyeon’s boyfriend to come and help him with his crisis.

A little after lunch, he brought the three with him on their leashes, dressed up in uniforms. They might be of help today in the cafe, so he decided to give the customers something to look forward to. Nothing beats a white poodle wearing a HyunA costume and two wearing black hoodies. They were exceptionally groomed that day, since Kyungsoo took his time to bathe the kids that morning.

When he arrived in the cafe, the place was packed with customers. He quickly hogged the three kids into the table in the secluded area and greeted Malnyeon as he passed by.

“Oh my God you brought them all!” She beamed, immediately kneeling to reach out to the three. Jjangah and Janggu were quick to say hello, but Monggu was a little hesitant meeting the lady for the first time, but said hello anyway.

“Noona! Our cake please!” One customer shouted from the other side. Malnyeon shouted her response quickly and dashed back to the counter. Choco Bank was quite busy that afternoon.

When the rush died down a little, Malnyeon gave Kyungsoo his cup of hot chocolate, as well as treats for the three kids. He told the three not to wander around, so when had their leashes taken off, they were behaved enough not to leave the area. They went playing around the tables, though, knocking some of the decorations in one of the shelves. Kyungsoo watched as the three smelled all the stuff that was scattered on the floor. Monggu, suddenly, bit on of the little baskets by the handle, and walked to Kyungsoo to hand it to him.

It did give Kyungsoo a bright idea.

The next day, they were back in the cafe, the three dressed up in white collared shirts. Kyungsoo trained them to carry the baskets and order them to take it to a specific place. Monggu was of course, a little lazy with the training, but all went well anyway.

When they arrived, the cafe wasn’t exactly busy, but there were a few groups of people who were in.

Of course, all eyes were on the three when they came in the door, a group of high schoolers squealing on how cute they are. Kyungsoo suggested that they’ll help that day since he didn’t have anything to do. Jongin told him over breakfast that he’ll be home later than usual, and promised that he’ll make it up to him and the kids when he’s over the hectic schedule.

Malyneon was so close to asking Kyungsoo to work in the cafe, but remembering their talk in the first time they met, she knew Kyungsoo will decline the offer. She knew the other guys’ boyfriend wouldn’t approve. So he let the mother and kids have their fun while helping her out since his good ‘ol boyfriend didn’t have that much time in his hands in the meantime to come to the cafe.

As the afternoon passed, Jjanggu, Jjangah and Monggu were excitedly carrying baskets, like really, really light ones than carries only one or two packed muffins, since Kyungsoo doesn’t want them to work that hard, and give them to customers. The customers were really glad and amazed, taking pictures of the adorable poodles working as little helpers. Kyungsoo guided the three kids to the customers, making himself busy as well.

The sun has set and finally, the cafe was empty of customers. Kyungsoo was left with a half-filled mug of hot chocolate, watching the three eat their dinner as well, since he packed their dinner already and brought them. Being in Choco Bank gave him a something to do that he quite enjoyed. Being in the house most times, doing his chores every single day seemed to bore him that much, add to that the sudden loss of warmth when his boyfriend’s work just took the guy out of the house most times. No Pororo marathon, no watching anime together, or just cuddling under the covers, no nothing.

“Hey, Kyungsoo, thank you, really. Today was fun!” Malyneon muttered when she flopped down the chair opposite him. “This cafe is really lucky, you know. When I met Eunhaeng and had him help around here, customers were rushing in and out. The same when my dongsaeng got casted and became a star; he would hold fanmeetings here and eventually gave me loyal fangirl costumers. The third charm is you, bringing you three poodles here!”

“It’s nothing, really. I’ve been really, really bored at home. Besides, these three had a lot of fun. They get to do something new. I wouldn’t stress them though, their appa would kill me.” He chuckled.

“I’m back!” Suddenly, a familiar voice spoke, and Kyungsoo immediately had to look at the newcomer. He was almost sweating when Malnyeon stood up and dashed to the man. He was already contemplating if his Jongin has a twin brother he never talked about.

“Welcome back!” Malnyeon said as she hugged the guy. When she pulled away, she immediately dragged the guy to Kyungsoo’s table. His eyes were bigger than usual.

“Uhm, hi.” The guy greeted shyly, polite and looked slightly rehearsed, a smile all too familiar to Kyungsoo.

Kyungsoo laughed when the situation has sunk in, but immediately stopped to not look rude, almost choking on his saliva when he realized he was being impolite. “Oh God, I’m sorry. You just look like someone I know. I’m Kyungsoo.” He extended his hand, which the other took. “Eunhaeng.” The other introduced.

The couple sat down quietly and Kyungsoo can’ help but ogle at the man before him. He really looked like Jongin though Eunaheng looked more polished and professional in his dark blue suit. Jongin would usually wear only a white dress shirt for formal events, and Kyungsoo has never seen him in a suit. Now he did and Kyungsoo made a mental note to buy Jongin a suit because he would look damn fine in it.

“He’s the one I told you about. He was looking for you for help, Mr. Banker.” Malnyeon muttered happily. Kyungsoo noticed the joy in her eyes, something that he hasn’t seen in the last few days.

“Oh, really? Well, what can I help you with?” Eunhaeng quickly asked as Malnyeon excused herself to prepare something for them to drink and eat. He straightened his back and leaned forward, linking his hands together as he rested his elbow on the table. Feeling miraculously comfortable, Kyungsoo immediately dived into his questions, and the two got totally immersed into their conversation. Talking to Eunhaeng made finance look easy for Kyungsoo, and talking to a look-a-like of his eyecandy boyfriend added that little interest.

But of course, the three kids won’t have it. The three didn’t really disturb the two adults talking, but was discreet of their little payback. It’s not like their omma was cheating on their appa, but they just pick the best times and the best people to do their antics. That’s what they do best, we all know that.

“-you can have it on your phone to make budgeting easier. The bank where your account was opened has this app on mobile phones, and it’s easier to check your balance. You can also set up automatic payment schemes for you living expenses.” Eunhaeng explained.

“So if that’s the case, all our payables can be deduced from the account as soon as a specific day of the month passes, right?” Kyungsoo asked, though at the corner of his eye, he was watching Monggu jump to the seat beside the banker. Eunhaeng nodded. “I see. That’ll make it easier. I don’t have to spend my allotment for other-”

“Sorry to disturb you two, but here’s the last slices of cake I have here.” Malnyeon came and placed two saucers on the table, eventually retreating back to the counters continuing whatever she was doing. By then, Monggu was already sniffing the tabletop, and Kyungsoo just had to see him do step one of whatever his own kids were plotting against him.

Monggu. Monggu just dived his nuzzle on the mug on the table. It was Eunhaeng’s cup of tea, all cold then.

“Monggu, no!” Kyungsoo ordered quietly, as Eunhaeng was talking to Malnyeon from his seat and was looking away. Monggu took mischievous licks from the drink, staring at his omma while he drank from the mug, spilling tea around the cup.

Eunhaeng smiled back at Kyungsoo finally, and found Monggu quietly sitting on his hind legs, looking well behaved. He found the poodle’s quiet personality amusing. Well, at least Monggu was amusing, because the next thing he knew, Jjanggu was over his crossed leg under the table, humping rigorously his way onto his slacks, both front feet securely clutching around his legs. It was rather funny but awkward, that Kyungsoo had to push the persistent Jjanggu off Eunhaeng’s legs, lifting the poodle up and let him hump in air until it realized he was detached from his victim.

“I’m sorry.” Kyungsoo laughed as he cradled Jjanggu and rubbed his belly. “They’re really smart. They like teasing new people and doing stupid, funny things.”

“It’s okay, really!” Eunhaeng chuckled, gripping the handle of his mug, lifting it.”

“Oh, you don’t want to drink tha-

Of course it was almost too late. Just before Eunhaeng sipped, Kyungsoo had harshly pulled the mug out of his grasp, spilling tea all over the guy’s suit and on the table, with Monggu quietly jumping off his seat to play with Jjangah instead. Kyungsoo bit his lips as his cheeks grew so warm in embarrassment, apologizing furiously as he explained that Monggu just drank from it. Luckily, Eunhaeng brushed it off with a chuckle.

“Anyway, Malnyeon told me she likes you here.. As her partner, I’m offering you a job, but not a formal, full-time, shifted job. I mean, just come when you want to help out, and we’ll pay you for your time. She told me how much you’ve helped in the past days, and I’m so embarrassed she’s only paid you with free drinks. She told me that you won’t take the job, and told me I should hire your little poodles instead.” He laughed.

Jongin quietly thanked the heavens, and Sehun, of course, for the early out from work. Sehun managed to finish their routines on time that day, relieving himself and Jongin off from the day’s work early. That is, of course, after blackmailing the guy that he’ll introduce Kim Minseok to Luhan if he doesn’t pick up pace. Kim Minseok, who worked in the Film Department, is the best in stealing guys and girls from someone else without doing anything but being friendly. Minseok was a killer in charisma and generally known as the most popular professor in the Uni without doing anything. He’s just that irresistible to those who actually got to meet him, and only a few gets to be his friend, and Jongin had that honour.

The sun has set already, yet he’s energy drink from lunch was still making him function like he just woke up in the morning. He thought of surprising Kyungsoo a quick date that night, or dinner near the Han River, but realizing that he hasn’t been home a lot lately, he decided to just bring something home, instead. Maybe a cake would do, he thought, seeing a cafe down the corner that just lit up their lights and signs.

“Huh, Choco Bank.” He read, pulling the hood of his jacket over his head. He walked across the opposite side of the street and finally had a glimpse through the large glass windows of the cafe. From the distance, he eyed the empty cafe and wondered why there were three familiar-looking poodles leisurely rolling over one of the tables... and a very familiar doe-eyed boy sitting there.

It was like having an out of the body experience as he watched himself and his boyfriend chat animatedly in the cafe. With his hood over his head, he looked like some weird time-traveller guy who just had to watch his other self live his life, lurking in the shadows careful not to be seen by anyone.

“Am I being so family deprived? I’d probably wake up in the studio and this was all but a dream.” Jongin murmured to himself, taking out his phone as it buzzed in his pocket. He quickly checked the device, finding a text from Baekhyun telling him that they were on his way to their house with Chanyeol with chicken and beer. He quickly called his friend and asked “Am I dreaming?” which had Baekhyun laughing, teasing him of getting drunk already even before they had the drinks.

Jongin realized he wasn’t dreaming after all, because when he arrived home (he didn’t go to the cafe anymore), he found their house empty. There was no Monggu, Jjanggu, and Jjangah, and definitely no Kyungsoo.

He had the urge to call Kyungsoo and ask him to go home, but seeing the smile on his boyfriend’s face earlier, he had to let him enjoy his time. He stressed Kyungsoo enough the past few days, and he deserved some time off. He swore that Kyungsoo wasn’t the cheating type.

Five minutes after Jongin arrived; Kyungsoo arrived with Baekhyun and Chanyeol who just came when Kyungsoo was pressing on the digital locks of their house. The couple quickly settled in the living room while Kyungsoo took plates and napkins, just in case their dinner gets a little messy, and if ever the kids do something crazy and spill anything or everything.

“Oh, you’re here.” Jongin’s voice totally shocked him. Kyungsoo knew he’ll be late. He’s not supposed to be home, not until late evening, that is.

“YOU are here.” Kyungsoo muttered back as he turned around, stressing the word in his surprise.

“Yeah. We, uh, finished early, so I came home as soon as I was off.” Jongin replied awkwardly. The sight of Kyungsoo in the same outfit when he saw him with the other version of himself proved that it was indeed his Kyungsoo. Stressed Jongin is delusional Jongin. Really.

“That’s great.” Kyungsoo murmured, balancing the plates on both his hands. “Come on, Baek and Chanyeol are already waiting.” He continued, walking past his boyfriend.

The night passed in a blur, and while Chanyeol and Baekhyun slept cuddling in the couch, drunk to the extent of staying there of fear to get hit by a truck in their own drunkenness if they went home, the other couple in the house seemed to lack their usual intimacy due to some unspoken and unheard thoughts. They lay side by side, both looking up at their ceiling, dizzy because of the alcohol.

“Jongin,” Kyungsoo called to the other in the dark. Jongin just hummed in response, proving that he was still awake as well. “It’s really getting boring here at home when you’re not around... Can you please let me get a job?”

Jongin hummed again, but Kyungsoo knew better it’ll take much more to convince his boyfriend to let him do as he pleased. After a few moments, Kyungsoo heard the other’s snoring already, and the next thing he knew, he was already waking up in the light of the sun from the windows, without a boyfriend by his side.

Memories of last night came back to Kyungsoo once he finished his hangover ramen that morning. He remembered drunk Baekhyun, who is actually still sleeping on his couch drooling on his boyfriend’s chest, asking if he went to the cafe already. He was sure he didn’t talk about the three kids doing some chores there, since Jongin might take it the wrong way; but well, he didn’t really remember what Jongin did last night. It was like he was silent the whole night.

Afternoon came and Kyungsoo brought the three again to Choco Bank, sitting outdoors with his kids as they entertained passerby. Kyungsoo helped out in giving free tastes outside the cafe, though the three poodles actually did most of the work, handing the packed chocolates to the strangers that walked their way.

Suddenly, his phone rang, so he fished out his phone and answered the call.

“Yah! Where are you?!” It was Baekhyun. He left the couple at home as they were still sleeping and shouting Baek means hung-over Baek.

“I’m at Choco Bank. Why?”

“Nothing! I’m just, ugh, my head is pounding like crazy! We’ll go there in a while! Wait for us, okay?!” Baekhyun screamed.

“Okay, okay!” Kyungsoo screamed back playfully.

“Kyungsoo! You should head in!” Malnyeon shouted as she peaked from one of the windows. “Weather station said it’ll rain!”

The day of course, went by excitingly. The three kids were well behaved as they watched Kyungsoo help out in the cafe as they sat on the seats their omma gave them. Malnyeon gave them treats which kept them busy for the time being.

As Kyungsoo helped out, Malnyeon worked behind the counters, fixing drinks for customers. As promised, Baekhyun and his giant boyfriend arrived an hour after Baek’s call.

“Sooo this is Choco Bank!” Baekhyun exclaimed as Kyungsoo led the couple to the table where the three poodles were. “Looks fine to me.”

Malnyeon then came and greeted the couple as Kyungsoo introduced both. Baekhyun and Chanyeol ordered coffee politely and Malnyeon went back to fix them their drinks.

“So, how was your consultation? You seem to enjoy your time here, seriously.” Baekhyun muttered, playing with Monggu’s curly locks.

“It was fine, I guess. The consultant just gave me a quick round about how to do it, giving a few techniques on how to make things easier. He answered all questions, and I guess I’ll be fine. Aside from that, they offered me a job here.” Kyungsoo explained.

“Baek, look.” Chanyeol suddenly nudged his boyfriend, pointing to the cafe entrance. “Does Jongin have a twin?” All three of them looked at Eunhaeng who looked casual in his slacks and oversized coat.

Suddenly, Jjangah barked excitingly, running to Eunhaeng quickly, jumping and scratching on the man’s slacks. Eunhaeng greeted her, leaning down, and pulling her up to carry her in his arms. He eyed the farthest table and waved a hand at Kyungsoo, a paper bag hanging on his arm. He took his time to talk with Malnyeon, before walking to Kyungsoo.

Eunhaeng walked to them and settled Jjangah down to her brothers, and turned to look at Kyungsoo.

“You’re here again..” Eunhaeng smiled at him. Malnyeon was already behind him, taking off his coat for him to make him comfortable.

“Ah, yes. I didn’t have anything to do today, so here I am.” Kyungsoo replied casually. Only when Baekhyun cleared his throat that Kyungsoo remembered they were there. “This is my friend, Baekhyun and his boyfriend Chanyeol. He’s the guy who told me about the consultation. Guys, this is Eunhaeng.”

“Wow, you really look like his boyfriend in person! I had the idea when I saw your photo, but you really look like him.” Baekhyun murmured as he extended his hand, which the other shook.

“Kyungsoo’s? Really?” Eunhaeng beamed. Baekhyun laughed as he nodded. “Anyway, I already have you apron ready if you’re taking the job.” He said as he lifted and showed the paper bag in his hand to Kyungsoo.

“Oh, really?!” Malnyeon happily cheered, taking the paper bag herself and taking the apron out, handing it to Kyungsoo. “I know it’s impossible you take the job since your boyfriend won’t let you, but I’ll have it here in case you want to help out.”

“This is nice. Thanks, really, Eunhaeng, Malnyeon.” Kyungsoo shyly smiled, putting the apron on. “Noona! Customer!” Some highschool lad yelled from the common area, and had Malnyeon rushing out.

“Oh!” Malnyeon yelped loudly, surprised. “You-

Kyungsoo and Malnyeon rushed their way to check on Malnyeon when shock masked their faces. Eunhaeng found himself looking in a mirror image of himself, and Kyungsoo realized that it was his boyfriend in the cafe. He never told him about anything about the cafe at all. He never had the chance to share the new discovery to him, and now, Jongin was blankly staring at him, while stealing quick glances at his carbon copy, of course, and then down to the apron on Kyungsoo’s chest.

Before Kyungsoo can even speak, Jongin was already dashing to the kids behind the two, taking the three leashes onto his hand, guiding the three poodles out of the cafe and walk home.

“Ooooh. Drama!” Baekhyun giggled as Kyungsoo turned around. He rolled his eyes at him, and was quick to take the apron off and dashed to follow his boyfriend. The thought of Jongin misunderstanding everything was making his head and chest hurt.

When he arrived home, he immediately went to their room to search for Jongin, but the bed was empty and the bathroom was quiet. The kitchen was empty as well, and there were no signs of the poodles in the living room. Catching his breath, and realizing his boyfriend and kids might not have come home directly, he flopped down the coach and rested his head. He has a lot of explaining to do. Somehow, his deep thinking made him drift to sleep, and the moment he woke up, there was a faint sobbing from the kids’ room.

Slowly, Kyungsoo turned the knob and pushed it gently, finding Jongin sitting, back facing him, his shoulders shaking a little as he cried. Guilt eventually crept onto Kyungsoo. He never wanted to make Jongin cry. Never. Jongin was rubbing something on his lap, and Kyungsoo wasn’t so sure who of the kids it was since his view was obscured.

He went to him and kneeled behind his boyfriend, finding the three kids quietly settled on Jongin’s legs, awake and waiting, just listening and comforting. Kyungsoo would’ve loved to praise the kids for being so caring and loving to their appa, but he had to settle his issue with Jongin first.

Somehow, Jongin relaxed to Kyungsoo’s embrace, and he spoke as soon as his breathing became even.

“I’m really sorry for being so busy, Soo. If you want to work there, I’ll let you. I know it’s my fault you’re all bored here, stuck with my kids.” Jongin murmured.

“Our kids, Jongin.” Kyungsoo interrupted. “Look, it’s not like what you thi-

Jongin choked a sob. “I swear I’ll be home early, just don’t.. Don’t leave me for that guy. I wanted you to stay home and not because I don’t want you coming home exhausted. Please, please, I’ll be better.”

“Shh.” Kyungsoo hushed his boyfriend, settling beside him. “Look, you got it all wrong. First, I went to Choco Bank because Baek told me about some guy giving finance consultation. You know how worried I was about you giving all access to your accounts, remember? I went there to ease my mind and ask how I can make it easier to handle all the money.”

“You looked happy talking to him though.” Jongin pouted.

Kyungsoo chuckled. “I’m not gonna lie, but you’re eyecandy, like what Baekhyun told me before I met you, and the guy looks exactly like you. It’s really weird talking to him, but seeing your face just makes me that happy. I don’t get to see you that much, so Eunhaeng was a fine distraction. Don’t get jealous now, because I love you and the kids. It’s not like I’m attracted to him. It’s just hard not to smile when I see you, in him.”

“I still call that cheating.” Jongin teased, finally feeling a little better.

“I’m not cheating. I only met the guy twice, and I’m still getting my head wrapped around the fact that there’s someone who looks like you. Our talk was mostly about money. I wasn’t cheating on you.”

“Yeah, yeah.” Jongin shrugged. “Says the man who asked me what if he found someone who looked like me and decided to leave me..”

“Yah, I was just hysterical that time!” The older defended. “And for the record, I was just helping out there and the kids enjoyed playing around in Choco Bank. Malnyeon, the lady who greeted you, and Eunhaeng knew I won’t take the job they were offering me, and wanted to ask for the kids instead. Although, working there would be a great way to spend my time, I’m worried I get fat from all the sweets and you won’t love me anymore.”

Jongin pulled Kyungsoo to his arms while he shook his head. “I’ll love you anyway, Soo. But now that I just said you can work, will you?”

“Nah.” Kyungsoo shrugged. “You promised to be home in time, right? I’ll take that instead.”

“Yeah. I promise.”

That night, Jongin had Kyungsoo under the covers with their arms and legs tangled. Kyungsoo was tracing imaginary lines on Jongin’s naked chest, grateful that his boyfriend was so understanding, though he still wasn’t sure why the hell would Jongin come to the cafe in the middle of the afternoon that day.

“By the way, why were you in Choco Bank earlier? Weren’t you supposed to be at work?” Kyungsoo murmured softly.

“I was, but Sehun told me that Chanyeol told him that Baek told him that you found someone who looked exactly like me and that you don’t need me anymore. That you’ll probably leave me for the guy. I rushed to Choco Bank since I already saw you once there with that Eunhaeng, and thought he, they were talking about him.” Jongin sighed.

“We really should stop believing everything Baekhyun says.” Kyungsoo mumbled.

“Actually, Baek called me after our talk saying he found someone online saying he looked like me and you just needed help regarding the bank accounts. That it was Chanyeol and Sehun that kind of had the words mixed up.”

“Really.”

“Yeah, and he was convincing me that Eunhaeng is my twin, though that would be impossible. I called my mother immediately when I got home after seeing him for the first time. She said I have no long lost twin.”

“You look exactly alike, though your taste in fashion is way too different. You probably would look really good in suits, though. Maybe I should get you one.” Kyungsoo murmured, almost half asleep already.

“Yeah, spend all my money.”

“Yeah, I will.”

And the two drifted into sleep, and woke up still clutched to each other when Jongin’s alarm went off the next day.

Their morning routine was back, and as promised, Jongin came home early.

“I’m home, baby!”
