Crack is cheaper

Can someone tell me why manga is so expensive? I swear, if I spend seventeen bucks on a new volume, I want it to last longer than six hours, dammit!

I HAVE been on a serious buying spree lately, though. Borders keeps sending me coupons for 33% off, or 40% off a single item, and I get an extra 10% off with my plus rewards card (I think I mentioned ( Read more... )

I hear you about the manga... It's rising in price too.

Ya know, a lot of book stores have considered taking them out because of them being stolen. I swear if they lowered the books down to $5... I'd be happy.

I know, right? Man, if I could get one of those three-in-one editions for ten dollars even, I'd be stoked.

Man, the s.o. and I just a couple of hours ago were talking about the various entertainment options and their relative "bang for the buck." Manga/certain graphic novels ranked pretty low, given their price (on average $10 for 1 hour of entertainment) compared to movies ($10 for 1.5-2 hours) and books (for average-sized novels at list price, anywhere from $7-$15 for 6 hours). Manga is an expensive hobby.

ETA: That is, going out to see movies costs about $10, depending on when you go.

Yeah, graphic novels in general have a pretty low money spent to time enjoyed ratio, which makes me sad. But they're still so good! I can't stop buying them!

Movies are getting pretty ridiculous, IMO. Back home they recently opened this huge new movie theater, and tickets plus popcorn and a drink usually runs a body 10-12 bucks. Now, this theater is GORGEOUS, but still...

Oh, buying things. Sort of reminds me- a while ago, I was on Amazon, and as I'm slowly but surely getting to be actually broke, I wasn't going to spend any money.

And then I saw that they had the DVDs to, like, half of my favorite animes, for an amazing percent off. Like, about half off or something. It so wasn't fair. XD

I know, right? Most of the reason I keep spending money is because Borders keeps sending me these coupons! I mean, I don't WANT to spend money, but it's really hard to argue with a combined 40 or 50 percent off.
