Yesterday I had the day off...
I got my hair cut. DON'T get excited because I promise you it's nothing great. I just got the bottom 3ish inches taken off because they felt like straw. My hair feels so short now. I'm hoping it grows fast because I liked it better longer. It does feel nice though.
After that I went to AAA to get some information about flights to Valdivia. Sounds like it's going to be around $1360 for a round-trip ticket. It's probably just that I'm not familiar with flight rates, but that seems insane. When I told my Dad, though, he said it wasn't bad. I guess that's good.
I was reading over my Valdivia stuff yesterday and it said that a month before my trip they are going to send me a pre-departure packet including info on my family and classes and stuff. I'm really excited for that because this whole trip still seems a bit far off and surreal for me. It's very strange to only work with people on this via email and internet, I think that's the problem. I feel like I'm just sending things off into the void and it could all just be some HUGE scam. The especially scary part is that I have sent my passport and everything away to the Chilean Consulate in Chicago and now it's up to them to contact me... It's been two weeks now and I'm getting ansy. More than anything I just want to know that it's being worked on and things will get done before my trip. The sheet said that I had to send everything in 3-4 weeks prior to my departure and I sent it in 6 weeks prior, so there shouldn't be a problem. It's just strange... that's all.
Whew. One of the few times I actually get nervous about nothing. Deep down I know it'll all work out just fine, I just don't have much else to think about without classes and whatnot.
After AAA I went to DFCU to inquire about opening a checking account and getting a debit card. I'm all set to go but I need my Dad to sign off on it because he is a joint owner of my account. I have yet to propose this to him. He doesn't like debit cards because there is so much fraud associated with them. I'm sure he won't stop me from getting one, I'll just have to hear an earful about being careful with it before he will sign. Gotta love those unnessicary speeches.
Once I finished all my errands and returned home I dedcided to go running. I knew it probably wasn't the BEST idea because of my whole foot thing (although at that point it was feeling a little better) but it was suuuuper nice and I really really wanted to. As a result, I convinced myself 1)that my foot didn't hurt that much and 2)that running wasn't going to make it worse since it was just a bruise. Pretty much I told myself to just suck it up... Yeaaaah, that didn't work. I tried, I really did, but I didn't even make it a mile before I had to stop. So I got home and iced it and now it hurts a little worse than it did originally. Oops. Guess I'll be taking some more time off...
Tonight Colleen and I are going over to East Lansing for Rachel's birthday. I can't believe she's 21 already! And Colleen will be too in less than 2 weeks! And then I will be too in 6 and a half months! Oh wait... that's not close. But I WILL be going to Chile and it doesn't matter how old I am there.
Okay, that's all. There's one other exciting thing that MIGHT happen that I'm crossing my dedos for. I don't want to jinx it, though, so I'm not going to write about it. Hopefully y'all will hear about it soon. That'll mean it worked out...
