My weekend...

Hola! Just sitting around on a lovely Sunday afternoon. I thought I´d update...

Sounds like I´m going to volunteer to work with elementary school kids 4 hours a week to teach them English. I don´t know when that begins, but it sounds like fun. Plus we got red shirts that say, ´Let´s learn English!´ Very funny.

Friday was pretty good. We had to meet at 8am to go to the Chilean DMV to get our IDs. That wasn´t fun. We had our meeting about the volunteering in schools thing and got our lovely T-shirts. After that we went to my Grandma´s for almuerzo. Then we had a siesta and my Mom took me to the store to get everything worked out with my cell phone (pretty much all of us bought one for only 40 bucks, sadly it is quite necessary). The we had once (dinner) and I met up with friends for a really fun concert. It was a super cute band that played various types of music from South America. There were lots of Chilean hippies there dancing like... well like one would imagine a Chilean hippie to dance. Haha. That was very entertaining. After that we hung out at a coffee shop and then headed home.

Saturday was more fun. We went to Niebla, a town on the coast where the rivers in Valdivia empty into the Pacific. We lucked out with one of the best days of our trip so far, warm and not a could in the sky. We pretty much just walked around and checked things out, stopping for lunch and to take pictures and to chill on the beach. After that, on the bus ride back, we stopped my the cervezeria where Danielle and I shared some honey beer (it´s good, I promise).

Once I got home it was pretty much time for my family barbeque to start. There was SOOOO much food and lots of good meat. It was really hard for me to understand people because everyone at the table was talking over one another. I just sat there and ate and tried to listen. It was fun though, they are all so nice and funny, even if I can´t always understand them. The food was all really good. Plus one of their favorite drinks is champange with Pinapple ice cream in it. Mmmm. After that Fico and the group picked me up in the most packed car ever, and we went to his house to make pisco sours (the official drink of Chile).

That was pretty much it. Sundays are super quiet around here. Everyone just kind of does their own thing. We still eat almuerzo together, however, it´s nothing too extravagant because the maid is not here. It´s actually a super nice day, so I think I´m going to go running later (for the first time in a month and a half) after I have digested a bit more. My sister, Daniela, is moving out today to live and work and hour away. Awww. After that we are going to see ´La Fuga´ at our school´s theater. It should be good, everyone on campus is really excited about it.

Okay, I guess that´s all. You all should check out my pictures from Niebla. Peace.
